“I have always struggled with depression and anxiety. I always just tried to deal with it because my family had the idea that psychiatrists were for crazy people and that we just had to get over it. I tried for a long time to deal with my depression and anxiety but over time it got worse. I got to the point where I had lost my thirst for life. I cried every day and wondered why I was being tested and feeling like my life had no purpose.

This Challenge gave me the opportunity to look at life from a different perspective. I learned so much about myself and what I am capable of, and I have been able to step out of my comfort zone and start living life where, before, I was just existing. I have been given the chance to get my mind, body, and spirit in order so that I can live a life of abundance and joy. My journey is so much more than just weight loss. I am committed to changing my life.”

TERRI’S STORY- 2nd place winner $2500

“Back in May 2018, I was in a massive car accident where I was hit by two cars driving 65 miles an hour…The car accident caused me to have severe back pain to the point where the simplest things like bending over would cause me agony. I was also suffering from PTSD and depression caused by the car accident. I would stay in bed for days at a time unable to function with no desire to even watch TV. My weight started spiraling out of control! When the competition was announced…I decided I had absolutely nothing to lose.

In the first month, I lost ten pounds. For the first time since the car accident, I felt [like] I had control over my life. [Then] in August, I moved with my kids into a tent in Springville so they could go to school while we were working on selling our house. I was afraid that I would not be able to lose weight while living in a tent, searching for a house, and selling my house.

…I was in my tent waking up when I had an “AHA!” moment and realized that I was able to stand up without any assistance. It happened so gradually over [a] month and a half that I almost forgot that I had been injured. This competition has not only healed my body, but it has also healed my mind. I look forward to each and every day and can’t wait to see what I can accomplish in the next 90 days!”

PAUL’s STORY- 3rd Place Winner- $1,000

“Thirteen years ago, I had a stroke, so my wife has chronicled this story for me. I was left with total paralysis on my right side and with severe speech and cognitive dysfunction. However, that wasn’t the end of my life!

Despite my regular exercise, I have continued to gain weight over the past decade or so. However, all that changed 90 days ago when I decided to join the rest of my family on the Breakfast Body Challenge. As a stroke survivor, I keep a very consistent routine, which was part of the reason for my initial resistance to joining the Challenge and making dietary changes. I think back at the TWO times in my life that I did a 90-Day Transformation. As I mentioned above, one was to get in shape for a Body Building Competition. I had 12-weeks to train and get prepared. That is NOT much time when it comes to a Body Building Competition but I was turning 30 years old and I wanted to prove to myself that as a young mom of two young children, I could do it. (And I did!) What did I win? A trophy… and who knows where that 2′ tall piece of golden art is to this day!

The second time I did a 90-Day Transformation was at age 54 when my husband and I did an at-home fitness program called P90X. We wanted to reduce our body fat, get lean and very strong. For me, I once again wanted to prove to myself that at age 54 a woman going through menopause could still be fit and lean… and it worked!

Tricks to STOP SUGAR CRAVINGS…

Sugar. It’s everywhere. Of course, we can spot the obvious places– like ice cream and cookies, soft drinks and candy bars. But sugar also hides in less obvious places.

Did you realize that store-bought spaghetti sauce almost always contains sugar? How about crackers, bread, and barbecue sauce? Even your breakfast sausage likely contains a good amount of the sweet stuff that leaves you wanting more.

Today I was talking to a group of women, several of them who have recently stopped drinking alcohol (sugar!) They were asking me how they can handle their Sugar cravings. Alcohol has a HUGE sugar content and not drinking has left a void in their lives.

I have some solutions of what I and others have found to be useful- so let me share here. I will reference a great article below. The suggestions in the article are like what I have also found to work for me and many of my clients and customers.

In the article they suggest drinking a Green Smoothie Every Day. What I have found to be easier and more affordable is using a product called GREEN POWER (Green Power- you can add to your shake, smoothie or drink alone with water or juice.) Trick #1: Try Drinking A Green Smoothie Every Day

Why does drinking a green smoothie a day help kick the sugar habit? Here’s why: It’s a healthier choice. Your body needs the phytochemicals in leafy greens to function properly—they are antioxidant and antibacterial, they can protect your cells and prevent the growth of cancer.

PLUS, they stimulate hormone production. I’d say phytochemicals are important— so when your body gets a taste, it wants more! Once you replace the empty calories with the nutrient-packed ones, and you begin to crave the greens, your taste for the sugary stuff will start to fade away naturally. Your body starts craving the good stuff. You’ll soon find that you WANT a green smoothie.

Like I mentioned, you can MAKE YOUR OWN Green smoothie by adding fistfuls of leafy greens, fruits, chia seeds ETC. or simply open the pack of Super Greens and add it to your smoothie.

Trick #2: Eat Huge Salads

Whatever you’re eating for a main course, eat it with a huge salad full of leafy greens and veggies, nuts, seeds, avocado, and maybe even some green apple.

Top it off with a simple squirt of lemon and pepper, or drizzle with olive oil and balsamic vinegar.

Trick #3: Get Protein with Every Meal

Eating healthy proteins with your meal helps balance your blood sugar, so you don’t get the dips and spikes that cause sugar cravings. Plus, healthy protein helps keep you feeling fuller longer—making that bag of M & M’s – or that cocktail, easier to resist later in the day.

MY CHOICE: Plant-based organic and vegan protein-based shakes. I alter between vanilla and chocolate. Both are delicious and offer a BASE for any smoothie or shake.

Trick #4: Sleep More (Or At Least Better)

We live in a nation of sleep-deprived zombies. Is it such a coincidence that we are also chronically overweight? No, it is not.

When you don’t get enough sleep, the hormones that regulate your appetite are suppressed, which means your body has a hard time reading hunger signals. Here are some tips that many agree on. One thing I have found that absolutely makes a difference in getting a great night sleep is dropping the booze.

Make time or make your sleep better. Or both. You can do really well on 7 hours if they’re 7 hours of deep sleep. Try these tricks to reset your circadian rhythm, get more z’s, and stop the sugar from taking over:

  • Eat your biggest meal after dark to kick into “rest and digest mode.”
  • Refrain from exercise for a few hours before bedtime.
  • Go to bed at the same time every night.
  • Use light-blocking shades on your bedroom windows or use an eye mask to achieve optimal darkness.
  • Use ear plugs to block out sound (if you don’t have small children you need to listen for).
  • Try to get sunlight early in the day to reset your circadian rhythm.
  • Drink chamomile or Kava tea after sundown.
  • Avoid alcohol. It prevents you from reaching deep restorative sleep.
  • This is a hard one, but if you can also avoid artificial light after sundown, that helps a lot. Especially the glowing screen of your TV, phone, tablet, and computer! I highlight the STOP the alcohol all together for optimum sleep as many of the women I have been talking to said this has made a huge difference for them.

Morning: Mix a TRIM MAX in the morning with 12-16 ounces of water. Shake and drink. Kids love the smoothie too….so it makes an IDEAL family breakfast and can be prepared in less than 1 minute. You heard me….1 minute or less. Once again, MY kind of meal that doesn’t require shopping or chopping.

Voila…
