Day 14- Joy’s Journey with Ketopia

This is easy…..how is it possible that today is already day 14 and 2 weeks into using Ketopia? It has easily become a way of life and has an incredible ease about it. Typically when I complete a 10 Day Cleanse or any program to jump start weight loss, my cravings are high and I can’t wait to begin eating things I missed- but not with Ketopia. This is now a new permanent way of eating for me! Although the average person appears to be dropping 1-1.5 lbs. a day, my average is closer to .5 lbs. per day.

Scales and towelMy most recent attempt at losing this FAT accumulation was on a popular cleanse…..from another MLM company that a friend is affiliated with, but ONLY because at that time FGXpress had not launched Ketopia! I literally had to plug my nose to drink the green drink, and on several occasions gagged over the large size Amino Acids. In comparison, with the KetonX drink in the morning, the Dough bite late morning and the FIXX shake mid afternoon….I have 100% satisfaction and everything tastes GREAT!

Today I was down almost 1.5 lbs. from yesterday. I weighed in the buff, not wanting even a towel to alter my weight by an ounce! So crazy how my head has got a bit trippy about the scale. Yup- the belly- the boobs (at one time I would have welcomed that!) the back (never thought I’d have back fat!) and the triceps. WHAT???? Yup, 58 year old women do begin to have fat accumulations in strange places.

Dave’s Day 12 on Ketopia

Day 12 and another pound dropped? Nope.

What? What do you mean? EVERYBODY has weight loss EVERYDAY ON KETOPIA! Nope.

Yes, my body is a little smaller, my inches are down from yesterday, my clothes hang better and my weight showed up 1 lb this morning!

You’re either looking at too short a time frame or you’re focusing on just one measure! Suspending judgement for 3-5 days will solve most of your concerns. And measure more than 1 thing. Dave Day 11 on Ketopia – Someone Got Some Explaining to Do!

Ok, Someone has got some explaining to do!

I hesitate to say this, but here goes…

Yesterday was Day 11 on Ketopia for me. I had good results thru day 10 (Lost 11.5 lbs., 7.4 lbs of it was fat – See my Day 10 Blog here…https://joysfaves.com//dave-ketopia-day-10/ ) to celebrate I stopped at Dunkin Donuts and had a small double shot cappuccino, cigar-scotchthen in the evening, I had a scotch (ok, I had a couple) with a cigar (La Gloria Cubana Series R, Maduro) just to say,

“Way to go Dave for sticking with the program for 10 days!” congratulations.2


This morning I woke 3 lbs lighter. (Down 14.5 lbs. now!)

What’s happening?

This IS a journey!!!! They say (not sure who THEY are) that it takes 21 Days to make or break a habit but honestly, with Ketopia, it has been easy transformation for me of how and what I eat…. and my choices I have made over the past 12 Days have been relatively easy! Honestly, I have had ZERO CRAVINGS or HUNGER!21 days This weekend has been a ‘test’, you could say, as I have been visiting my mother and away from my normal routine and home. Has it been difficult? Not at all.

Probably the most difficult thing I have encountered is on Friday having my granddaughters here and taking them out to get a creemee ice cream cone. It is a summer ritual and fun to guess what flavor each of us with choose. Kamaria, 7, can handle her cone just perfect. She knows how to keep the ice cream from dripping and manages just fine. I never need to lick her cone to keep it centered or manageable. Skyla on the other hand, 3, understandingly has a more difficult time. Typically “Mema” is there to help (bonus for me!) and in the long run, I end up eating half the ice cream cone. Did I succumb this time and help her?

How to Really Lose Weight

Not this time.…..I had Kamaria help her once and then when the dripping became too much to handle I got a cup and spoon and plopped the cone in the middle. Lots of fun for a 3 year old. This time she only ate half of the cone and then we threw it away. That NEVER would have happened before. I am sure most moms- if not grandmothers- like me, have the same experience. We tend to eat the left overs of our grand-kids, especially yummy, slightly melting ice cream on a hot summer day. But here is the thing- I had NO DESIRE for ice cream. Really!!!!

My only vices this weekend that I have not had during my 10 Day Reset was on both Friday night and Saturday night I enjoyed a cocktail. A vodka gimlet on Friday and a Vodka Tonic (zero sugar, carbs or calories in the tonic!) I know alcohol is NOT recommended on the Ketopia program, but I figured it wouldn’t alter my results too dramatically and I chose wisely, alcohol with the least carbs and sugars. Besides, tomorrow I am back in my home environment, with Dave, who is also doing the Ketopia! (By the way, today he will post his 10 Day results so stay posted to our blog here (www.workwithDaveandJoy.com) In 10 Days Dave dropped 11.5 pounds!!!!! WOW! His clothes are hanging on him!

I am SO HAPPY THAT WE PLANNED AHEAD AND PURCHASED ENOUGH KETOPIA TO DO 3 10-DAY RESET PROGRAMS back to back!

I am SO GLAD that we purchased enough Ketopia so that after Day 10 we didn’t run out!!! I am loving this 10-Day Reset! If you are currently using Ketopia…place your next order so you can continue beyond Day 10.

There are SO MANY things I love about the results I received from only 10 Days using the Ketopia. I love that it is termed “A 10-Day Reset” as that is exactly what it is!!! I am visiting my mother this weekend and find it to be so easy to stay on the Ketopia with zero effort. Here is what I lost….Oh My, look at this visual and see what 5 pounds of FAT actually looks like! Top shelf!!! OH my…… and the majority of where I dropped my FAT was from the lower belly to the chest. Perfect!

My next goal is 10 pounds of FAT loss and my final goal is 20!!!!! My initial goal was to drop 20 pounds of FAT in 30 Days but because the Ketopia is becoming a way of life, if it takes me 45-60 Days I’ll still be thrilled. Let’s be realistic, I gained those 20 pounds year the past 4 years!!! Also it is not so much the POUNDS that I want to shift, but changing my body composition so I FEEL BETTER, LOOK BETTER and have better energy and health!

Let me put on my Personal Training Hat for a moment!!!!

The number on the scale has little relevance to your overall state of health or body composition.

I have seen people weigh of normal “scale weight” be over-fat and have a body composition of 35% or more. When I got into body building years ago I actually GAINED weight, but it was muscle weight and thanks to a couple decades of weight training, up til recently, my body composition was very healthy. Why? Because I had more muscle on my body which helped burn more calories.

As you can see from the pictures below we all come in different sizes and shapes! Where do you want to end up? What are your goals? Create a vision board or have pictures in strategic places to remind you of why you are doing Ketopia. Do you realize YOUR results will inspire others and perhaps even make you very wealthy?????

Day 8 stats Down another 1.2 lbs. this morning for a total weight loss of 10 lbs in 8 full days on Ketopia. Still no hunger or cravings!

Body Fat is down 6 lbs.

Personal Notes

My 1st 2 days on Ketopia, I was able to see a slight rise in ketones on the KetoStix. It only showed for a few hours and by the afternoon It didn’t show additional excess ketones. BTW, the KetoStix don’t measure if your body is in Ketosis, they measure the excess ketones being excreted thru the urine. Since you are testing the level of ketones leaving your body, the excess ones, you might still be in a state of ketosis with ketones still in your body.

 

blood glucoseThe most accurate way to test to ketones IN the body is with a blood glucose monitor. This will show what is IN not what is excess coming OUT.

Not initially understanding this I was a little concerned that I was not burning fats. The drop in weight and fat proved me wrong.

By Day 5 I tested myself with the KetoStix 5-6 times and saw that I had excess ketones well into the evening hours and by the morning of Day 7 before I had my KetonX drink I was already measuring a high level of ketones.

The message is don’t get discouraged by your levels of excess ketones in the first few days. Every body is different and will find it’s own reset point. Some days I lost more weight, other days more inches, some days, both! For me sometimes its hard not to micro manage, you know, watching everything to closely. Like sailing a boat or flying an airplane, just hold your course……. and stay with the program, it works!

On Days 3 & 4 I showed no weight loss even though I was following the program. I noticed by the end of day 4 I felt bloated, my stomach appeared to me to be distended, you know bulging out. I realized I hadn’t had a normal bowel movement in 2 days. I felt almost toxic. So, I made a few slight shifts:

1. Dropped cheese sticks for snacks. I was having 3 a day. My body tends to gets bound up on too much cheese.

2. Increased Fat intake from avocados and olives

3. Changed any snacks to lettuce wrap with avocados & olives

4. Changed my FIXX shake to mixing with water only and NOT using unsweetened Almond Milk. See I was caught in an old paradigm of I needed more calories and thought the Almond Milk would be a better choice. Now mixing with water only.

5. Bumped up my water intake to 1/2 oz per body weight, not counting the 12 oz I had with KetonX and FIXXWrap

By Day 5 I started dropping weight and fat again and through Day 8 it hasn’t stopped! And I’ve added back pieces of Feta and Blue Cheese to my wraps!

Man, are my clothes hanging different, I don’t feel my belly when I lean over to tie my shoes or pick up a tennis ball.

I’m gonna miss they belly …… NOT ! and if you find it, don’t send it back!

I’m excited to complete my first 10 days and then continue for the next 20 days with 2 more Ketopia Reset packs.

Today is Day 9 & I am so happy my Ketopia doesn’t end tomorrow! So glad we bought enough Ketopia to do 3 10-Day Reset programs “back to back”……

Today I learned that eating OUT is easy when I am on Ketopia!

Today was a different day, being on Ketopia, as I was out of the house most of the day… and had a luncheon ‘date’ that I could not change. No worries Ketopia is SIMPLE –PORTABLE and EASY!

What IS my morning ritual on Ketopia?

My morning ritual is to drink the KetonX first thing in the morning after a glass of water. TIP: Make sure you SIP it for at least 30-45 minutes. Don’t ask me why- I heard someone tell me that is what they did that worked for them – so I copied them. Although I am normally a gulper- OK, ‘guzzler’, no matter what the beverage, so I have made sure to TAKE MY TIME and savor the KetonX drink. This is the drink that actually tastes like a creamsickle and the drink that puts your body into a quick and healthy state of ketosis….within hours! It is YUMMY! This is a KEY product in the Ketopia10-Day Reset Program!

Then 2-3 hours later I typically have my Dough bite. Today I ate it on my way into town, while driving the car. A Dough bite, eaten slowly with water is VERY FILLING and satisfying. My brother and I took my folks out to lunch at a retirement community that they are checking out and the menu was fabulous…. It was a 3 and 4 course meal for lunch- with choices galore and many that I could select while on Ketopia. But….I was not hungry at all- and had no problem watching everyone (5 others) at the table enjoy soup, their choice of a main course, and dessert. Hmmm, THAT was quite unusual -I’m quite sure I have ever NOT EATEN while OTHERS EAT, but on Ketopia it truly was easy. I enjoyed conversation AND 2 8 ounce glasses of water instead.

I didn’t get home until 4:30 pm, which is later than I usually have my FIXX shake, so had a quick FIXX shake before I even settled in my office. Dinner Time

6 pm….Back home and feeling totally satisfied. Tonight Dave prepared a healthy salad with lots of veggies, hard boiled egg, feta and blue cheese, olives and a small grilled piece of chicken.

D-DAY…..The Count-Down is ON!
Tomorrow I will strip down to my jog bra and “skort” and have Dave take pictures of me on Day 10! I have tried not to obsess about the scale as it is just one way of assessing success and to date, I have dropped 5 pounds. I wish it were more, but honestly the other shifts in NO cravings, inch loss, mental clarity and energy are sufficient enough to stay motivated. So tomorrow I’ll post pictures (hmmm, if I have the courage and show MY physical changes that have occurred over the 10 Day Reset.

Back in my late 20’s I was in great “aerobic shape”. I sported a one piece unitard with a black thong (yes this was the era of leg warmers too!)…and had a variety of high top Reebok sneakers-a pair in bright green, a blue pair and also black pair. Needless to say, I loved aerobics – much like many people are part of the ZUMBA Dance Craze or Cross-Fit these days. But I remember being fit and lean, with a body fat that probably hovered around 18-20%. One day a Personal Trainer from the Weight Training part of the gym literally dragged me from the aerobic room to the free weight room. He convinced me with my genetics that I could and would love weight lifting….really?PowerStrips
This is back in the day when very FEW women were lifting weights

I honestly got HOOKED ON DAY ONE! The power that the ‘IRON’ gave me was phenomenal and I loved the feelings of getting stronger. The only thing is as I continued lifting weights I GAINED WEIGHT – muscle weight. It took months for me to understand the difference between the scale and body composition (and during that time I learned to stay OFF the scale as to not get discouraged), but once I realized that although I had initially gained weight- my body FAT actually went down to between 12-15%…where it stayed for over a decade.

LESSON: Stay OFF the SCALE!

So….. with anyone (and I AM speaking out loud to myself here!) going on the Ketopia 10-Day Reset please make sure that you have realistic goals for your 10 Days and that you enjoy the MANY changes that will occur. Yes, you will lose weight- but because this program addresses BODY FAT LOSS more than weight, you’ll notice inch loss perhaps more than weight loss.

Dave Day 7 on Ketopia

Lost almost 2 more lbs. on Day 7

Started at 247.5 lbs. and now at 238.8 lbs. Weight loss in 1 week of nearly 9 lbs!!

Body fat loss of 5.4 lbs. of my weight loss was in Fat. Well over half of my weight loss was fat loss! Perfect !

How do you measure Fat Loss?

I had someone ask, “How do you measure your Fat Loss?” Here’s how: There are a few ways to measure you how much fat you are carrying.

1. Find a personal trainer and ask them to use their calipers to calculate your fat.

2. You can purchase a scale that measures your body fat both in percentage of body weight and in lbs. Scale

3. Use this link to determine (a little less accurate, but for your purposes, it works) http://www.freedieting.com/tools/body_fat_calculator.htm This link will show you both percentage of body weight and in lbs. too.

Measure your fat on day 1 then on Day 7 or whatever day you are measuring and subtract the 2nd number from the first.

 

A short Soap Box Rant (cause it’s my blog!)

Most of us, use the weight we see on the scale to determine how successful or how unsuccessful we are in our health as it relates to weight loss. I’d like you to consider that its NOT about weight loss and the scale isn’t or shouldn’t be your top priority!

I’m willing to bet your actual weight isn’t even in the top 3 concerns for you. When we’ve asked hundreds of people who took part in our weight loss programs years back, What were the top 3 results you are looking for in the program?, the number on the bathroom scale was rarely in the top 3 !

First most people wanted to FEEL better !

2nd they wanted to LOOK better

3rd they wanted their clothes to FIT better

Wanted to look sexier and ultimately FEEL Sexier

The number on the scale usually came in the top 5, but rarely did the number on the scale become the main reason they were looking to be healthier.

What if we changed the discussion from Weight Loss to more appropriately, Fat Loss? Fat or % of fat, is a much better indicator of health than just weight! I’ve often said that I don’t care if I weigh 300 lbs., if I’m lean !

Ok, one last soap box….. someone has to say it….

To all the ladies out there, you know who you are, who always say, “Guys lose weight faster, Its not fair.” Well, we don’t do it on purpose! Yes, we do sometimes smile, inwardly of course, that we’re dropping weight faster, but we’re usually 20 to 100 lbs heavier than you ladies…. Of course our “weight loss” looks higher on the scale! If you’re into comparing, compare % of weight loss from where you started. At our weight loss programs a few years ago, we tracked % of weight loss based upon starting weights and usually a lady won that category! (Did I mention, its not about the number on the scale?)

Lastly, men’s and women’s bodies are different! Have you noticed? And it’s those differences that are so …… shall we say, intriguing ! But that’s a subject for another time, and perhaps beyond the scope of this “PG” rated blog.
