Today is Day 9 & I am so happy my Ketopia doesn’t end tomorrow! So glad we bought enough Ketopia to do 3 10-Day Reset programs “back to back”……

Today I learned that eating OUT is easy when I am on Ketopia!

Today was a different day, being on Ketopia, as I was out of the house most of the day… and had a luncheon ‘date’ that I could not change. No worries Ketopia is SIMPLE –PORTABLE and EASY!

What IS my morning ritual on Ketopia?

My morning ritual is to drink the KetonX first thing in the morning after a glass of water. TIP: Make sure you SIP it for at least 30-45 minutes. My brother and I took my folks out to lunch at a retirement community that they are checking out and the menu was fabulous…. It was a 3 and 4 course meal for lunch- with choices galore and many that I could select while on Ketopia. Dinner Time

6 pm….Back home and feeling totally satisfied. Tonight Dave prepared a healthy salad with lots of veggies, hard boiled egg, feta and blue cheese, olives and a small grilled piece of chicken.

D-DAY…..The Count-Down is ON!
Tomorrow I will strip down to my jog bra and “skort” and have Dave take pictures of me on Day 10! I have tried not to obsess about the scale as it is just one way of assessing success and to date, I have dropped 5 pounds. I wish it were more, but honestly the other shifts in NO cravings, inch loss, mental clarity and energy are sufficient enough to stay motivated. So tomorrow I’ll post pictures (hmmm, if I have the courage and show MY physical changes that have occurred over the 10 Day Reset.

Back in my late 20’s I was in great “aerobic shape”. I sported a one piece unitard with a black thong (yes this was the era of leg warmers too!)…and had a variety of high top Reebok sneakers-a pair in bright green, a blue pair and also black pair. Needless to say, I loved aerobics – much like many people are part of the ZUMBA Dance Craze or Cross-Fit these days. But I remember being fit and lean, with a body fat that probably hovered around 18-20%. One day a Personal Trainer from the Weight Training part of the gym literally dragged me from the aerobic room to the free weight room. He convinced me with my genetics that I could and would love weight lifting….really?PowerStrips

I honestly got HOOKED ON DAY ONE! The power that the ‘IRON’ gave me was phenomenal and I loved the feelings of getting stronger. The only thing is as I continued lifting weights I GAINED WEIGHT – muscle weight. It took months for me to understand the difference between the scale and body composition (and during that time I learned to stay OFF the scale as to not get discouraged), but once I realized that although I had initially gained weight- my body FAT actually went down to between 12-15%…where it stayed for over a decade.

LESSON: Stay OFF the SCALE!

So….. with anyone (and I AM speaking out loud to myself here!) going on the Ketopia 10-Day Reset please make sure that you have realistic goals for your 10 Days and that you enjoy the MANY changes that will occur. Yes, you will lose weight- but because this program addresses BODY FAT LOSS more than weight, you’ll notice inch loss perhaps more than weight loss.

Dave Day 7 on Ketopia

Lost almost 2 more lbs. on Day 7

Started at 247.5 lbs. and now at 238.8 lbs. Weight loss in 1 week of nearly 9 lbs!!

Body fat loss of 5.4 lbs. of my weight loss was in Fat. Well over half of my weight loss was fat loss! Perfect !

How do you measure Fat Loss?

I had someone ask, “How do you measure your Fat Loss?” Here’s how: There are a few ways to measure you how much fat you are carrying.

1. Find a personal trainer and ask them to use their calipers to calculate your fat.

2. You can purchase a scale that measures your body fat both in percentage of body weight and in lbs. Scale

3. Use this link to determine (a little less accurate, but for your purposes, it works) http://www.freedieting.com/tools/body_fat_calculator.htm This link will show you both percentage of body weight and in lbs. too.

Measure your fat on day 1 then on Day 7 or whatever day you are measuring and subtract the 2nd number from the first.

 

A short Soap Box Rant (cause it’s my blog!)

Most of us, use the weight we see on the scale to determine how successful or how unsuccessful we are in our health as it relates to weight loss. I’d like you to consider that its NOT about weight loss and the scale isn’t or shouldn’t be your top priority!

I’m willing to bet your actual weight isn’t even in the top 3 concerns for you. When we’ve asked hundreds of people who took part in our weight loss programs years back, What were the top 3 results you are looking for in the program?, the number on the bathroom scale was rarely in the top 3 !

First most people wanted to FEEL better !

2nd they wanted to LOOK better

3rd they wanted their clothes to FIT better

Wanted to look sexier and ultimately FEEL Sexier

The number on the scale usually came in the top 5, but rarely did the number on the scale become the main reason they were looking to be healthier.

What if we changed the discussion from Weight Loss to more appropriately, Fat Loss? Fat or % of fat, is a much better indicator of health than just weight! I’ve often said that I don’t care if I weigh 300 lbs., if I’m lean !

Ok, one last soap box….. someone has to say it….

To all the ladies out there, you know who you are, who always say, “Guys lose weight faster, Its not fair.” Well, we don’t do it on purpose! Yes, we do sometimes smile, inwardly of course, that we’re dropping weight faster, but we’re usually 20 to 100 lbs heavier than you ladies…. Of course our “weight loss” looks higher on the scale! If you’re into comparing, compare % of weight loss from where you started. At our weight loss programs a few years ago, we tracked % of weight loss based upon starting weights and usually a lady won that category! (Did I mention, its not about the number on the scale?)

Lastly, men’s and women’s bodies are different! Have you noticed? And it’s those differences that are so …… shall we say, intriguing ! But that’s a subject for another time, and perhaps beyond the scope of this “PG” rated blog.

As I began to prepare for my KETOPIA experience two weeks ago I began to take a look at my current diet. It wasn’t horrible, but it wasn’t great either. too fat You bet…..you see my friend had been overweight since the birth of her baby.

Her ‘baby’ was now 5 years old. Nothing she did helped her budge her 20 excess pounds of fat she gained during her pregnancy- although she tried many things. She wasn’t lazy either. She bought many of the Beach Body videos, like INSANITY, P90X and Slim in 6….and although she FELT better, the inches and pounds stayed on her body like super glue!

Day 7 already- how is that possible? It has been a quick week since I began the 10-Day KETOPIA Reset program. I got off to a quick start with some initial weight loss and inch loss which was very motivating. The program itself is ULTRA easy and simply and delicious. THAT IS FOR SURE! What I am noticing is that EVERYONE’S pace of weight loss and inch loss is unique to themselves. There are no two exact results on responses with Ketopia – except that it works– some fast and furious, some slow and steady. I think I am in the second category! For sure, some results are slower than others and you guessed it, typically the men drop weight and fat much quicker than us women. Oh well- like Dave says, “Ladies, you’ll just have to get over it”! Don’t you just hate that?????

The only thing that Dave and I have been doing more of since being on KETOPIA is play an additional 30 minutes or so of tennis around 5 pm in the evening. That breaks up our day, diffuses additional energy that we have since being on Ketopia and also BREAKS the HABIT of an evening glass of wine or cocktail…. or two. What I find fascinating is I have NO cravings for sweets or carbs….and that includes no cravings for alcohol. Truly a beautiful thing as I know the empty calories in wine are what gets stored on my body- especially around the belly!

I won’t lie- my weight is at a standstill of 4 lbs. loss. SOME PEOPLE DROP THAT IN ONE DAY…but I know better than to be discouraged. 4 lbs. of fat is considerable and my body has definitely begun to shift. My muffin top around the waist is now smaller, not those jumbo muffin tops like they bake at Costco’s!

In a couple of days- when I complete Day 10 on my first of 3 Ketopia 10-Day Reset programs, I’ll share my before, Day 3 and Day 10 pictures. I will have to swallow my pride in doing this but I want people to see the real – up close and untouched- changes that can occur with using the Ketopia. THIS is the first time there has been a shift that is noticeable.

I didn’t get to my size/weight overnight and I know it will take time to return to 15-18% or so body fat that I have been accustomed to over the years. I remember when I began lifting weights and body building in my late 20’s. At first I gained a little weight and then little by little my body shifted in percentage of body fat. THIS TIME AROUND I began at 25.3% with Ketopia and today I am down to 24.38%. (Going in the right direction). Although I really want the number on the scale to drop quicker, the % of body fat is more important to me….which is why I am not obsessing over the scales any longer…..but it’s hard not to want to peek to see if there are any changes. Dave’s Day 5 on Ketopia

Ketopia, You’ll Know When You’re There

That line makes sense now. By late morning on the 3rd day, I started feeling so energized and alive. Hard to completely put my finger on it, but it is palpable. Now I can say it…….You will know when you’re there!

It’s easy, no craving and I feel satisfied all day!

Day 5 I’ve now lost the grand total of 6 lbs. lost, fat down 3.6 lbs and Body Fat off 1% !! Perhaps more important, I feel so much better and smaller….. Clothes are hanging better, belly is not protruding!

On day 3 and 4, I did notice my digestive system was feeling bound up, felt bloated, almost toxic….. FIXX chocolate shakeEven though I thought I had been consuming enough water, perhaps I hadn’t been. So I upped my water (not just counting the KetonX & FIXX shake as part of it) and consumed 1/2 oz, per lbs of body weight.

Additionally even though cheese and cheese sticks are allowed, I dropped cheese too… I think that may have contributed to binding me up. I replaced the cheese snacks with 1/4 avocado, a few black olives wrapped in a large romaine lettuce leaf. Yummy!

Last evening, during our team calls, my digestive system started kicking back in! ( My apologies, if I cut the calls short! lol )

I have been stead fast in my commitment to not having any alcohol. Not easy, especially over the weekend…. I’m not sure how to have a cigar without a good scotch. I guess I still haven’t figured that out. No cigars either!

Our dinners have been fabulous. Even though I’ve not been that hungry, the meals have been delicious and plenty

How is it POSSIBLE today is already day 5 using Ketopia? I am already ½ way through my first 10-Day Reset program of Ketopia….and have committed to do 30 days straight. My goal is to lose 20 lbs. in this time frame and I believe I will.

What will be my results at the end of Day 10? Stay tuned…..I WILL compare my Before Picture (yikes), Day 3 and Day 10 pictures and share my weight loss as well as inch loss. As for today, after 4 full days on Ketopia I have lost 4 pounds! They say most people average 1 lb. or 1.5 lbs. per day weight loss. Many drop considerably more in their first 1-5 days, but stabilize off at this slower and steady pace. (I’d be happy with 1 lb. per day!) and yes ladies…prepare for it- men DO tend to lose weight quicker so I’m trying NOT to get upset that Dave has dropped 5 lbs. in 2 days while I have dropped 4 lbs. in 4 days!

To give you a heads up warning…my comparison pictures I will post at Day 10 are of me in a tight black “skort” (skirt with built in shorts) with a jog bra. (Something to look forward to, lol) The pictures are taken in a sideways view- totally relaxed with nothing being held in. I realize I am SO accustomed to holding in my belly that when I actually saw these pictures in a fully relaxed state I cried. I really did!

When I say this I mean it- this is the easiest and simplest program I have EVER BEEN ON IN MY LIFE….and the results are already promising. Today I awoke fully rested with SO much energy and clarity. Could it be that “I have arrived” or as Ron Williams says, crossed the bridge? And that YOU’LL KNOW WHEN YOU ARE THERE? We had two team calls that Dave ran and HE was extremely clear on the calls. Truth be told, during both calls I multi-tasked and cleaned our entire 5 LEVEL ski condo (minus vacuuming as it would’ve made too much noise) AND I did a load of laundry. That is not my typical Saturday morning routine but I had energy to burn…..

And then Dave suggested we play tennis. Honestly, because of HIS energy and clarity I took a SolarStrip and put on half PowerStrips below my belly to give me the added edge of energy and blood flow. This afternoon our granddaughters ages 3 and 7 arrived late afternoon for dinner and the night and as always we had a great time. DSC01229Thanks to feeling full and having no cravings it wasn’t difficult smelling their freshly popped popcorn at movie time or when they had their little sundae cup of ice cream. Normally I eat their left overs or finish the snacks they can’t finish. Not tonight! My goal is by the time I have gone through 20 days on Ketopia I won’t even mind putting on my swimsuit and going to the pool with them. I do it now but I wear what most women consider their friend -“a sari cloth wrap around the waist”. Right ladies?

Slept soundly, other than a couple of bathroom breaks….. I’ve upped my water in the past to 1/2 oz per body weight and remember it took a couple of days for my body to get used to it and stop having to use the bathroom so often. I expect today to match my number of bathroom trips as I did yesterday. Thinking of mounting my iPad on the wall behind the toilet, so I can get caught up on my reading. I believe I could finish a couple of books this week.

DOWN 5 lbs in the first 48 hours!

Look slimmer….. although I didn’t really seem to notice improvement in my tennis game this morning. I’m thinking because I weigh less, I’m maybe a 1/2 step faster and have to compensate for the change in aerodynamics…….. Oh, never mind….

Enjoyed the KetonX drink even more this morning. Just mixed a packet of KetonX with cold water and sipped it for 45 minutes while I fixed a problem with this website….. I touched something I shouldn’t have yesterday in the css files….. But I digress…

The most surprising thing for me has been the lack of cravings. That is awesome. Not to feel like I’m missing something. I believe staying on this Ketopia 10 Day Reset will be easier than anything I’ve ever done in the past.

indexHeard a comment yesterday about being careful not to drink too much water as you can deplete your sodium and potassium in the body. Here’s what I found… The KetonX drink has 850 mg of Sodium (which is 35% of RDA=Recommended Daily Allowance) and 1120 mg of Potassium (32% of RDA) FIXX has Sodium 190 mg (8% of RDA) and 800 mg of Potassim (22% of RDA) And I add a pinch of salts with dinner….. I don’t see this as an issue. Keep your water intake to 1/2 oz per lb of body weight. I keep refilling a 20 oz water bottle and drink 6 of those daily.

One of the results I am waiting for is the feeling of energy that others have talked about. It seems to show up between Day 2 and Day 4. I have notice that by just being off grains, my breathing is better and I didn’t feel congested in the early afternoon after my typical lunches.

7 pm – Dinner time, but I’m not hungry… WHAT ?

Crazy. I’m always hungry! Today I had KetonX Drink, 1 Dough Bite, FIXX shake, 2 String Cheese….. We decided we might want to make dinner…. I didn’t see the point. I eat cause I’m hungry, not because of the time of day…..

Grilled 2 chicken breasts drizzling small chunks of Blue Cheese on them (OMG), along with a grilled Zucchini (halved) with oil, garlic, salt and pepper, added a medium salad with Blue Cheese dressing…. Tasted wonderful, only had 1/2 a breast…. felt satisfied….

Could the Ketopia Reset really be a “Reset” ? Its looking that way guys!

 

Day 2 – I ended at 242.5 lbs., Lost 2 additional lbs today for a total of 5 lbs in 48 hours.

Not hungry, no cravings, and feel great! I look and more importantly, feel smaller!

Dave’s Journey with Ketopia Day 1

Ketopia, the day has arrived.

Our shipment of additional Ketopia packs is confirmed and in the hands of UPS! upsSince we only had a single 10 day Reset pack, I graciously offering Joy to start and complete her 10 Day Reset. Once we knew our initial order of Packs was on the way, she suggested that we share her pack till our supply arrives! After seeing her first 2 day’s results, which were fabulous and she had distinct changes in her body that I could see with the naked eye, I’d jumped at the chance to start.

I filled in my Before Measurements and had Joy take pictures. That was the least exciting part of the morning! As a guy, we have an innate ability to look in the mirror and see, however distant, that we’re looking pretty damn good! In these pictures I didn’t hold it in, rather I relaxed and let it out…… I couldn’t see something good even though I squinted!

just finshed first KetonXSipped my KentonX drink for approx 35 minutes and even though the directions say to wait an hour or so to measure ketones, I couldn’t wait (welcome to my world!) already showing excess ketones in my body! Cool. We played 30 1 hour day 1minutes of tennis and I took another ketone measurement to see any changes…. Yep, you can see the darker color which means I’m further into ketosis!

 

 

Now I drink water (recommend 1/2 oz. per lb. of body weight) that’s 123.75 oz today for me…. for those of you doing the math in your head…. I weighed in at 247.5 lbs. this morning.

At 11 am I’ll be back with my Dough Bites…….

OK, 10:48 am Couldn’t wait…… just had Dough Bites! It’s a big slab of what tastes exactly IMG_2745like Cookie Dough! It’s been described as being a phantom carb, meaning it tastes great, but doesn’t produce and insulin response from the body! I don’t know how that works, but boy was it good and filling!

It’s 12 noon….. not hungry. So interesting….. For breakfast, I usually have 4 eggs, 2 pieces of toast, bacon or any meat left over from last night’s dinner….. it’s 12 noon and I’ve had a KetonX drink and a Dough Bite….. I’m not hungry at all. No cravings either.

 

Now it’s 2:40 pm…. just made a FIXX shake. I mixed it with unsweetened Almond Milk…. Less than 1 gm of carbs made the Shake a littleFIXX SHAKE thicker in consistency and feels more satisfying! Fabulous shake…. still not hungry.

I’ve drank about 90 oz of water….. me and the bathroom are becoming better friends as the day goes on.

 

Planning a dinner of pork roast sauteed in onions, topped with pesto, one of my favorite dishes with lightly steamed broccoli, fresh garlic – sauteed and almost burnt, butter, juice from 1/2 a lemon and salt, topped with feta cheese, finished with a fresh salad, avocados, and cheese with olive oil and Braggs….. I hope I remember to take a picture of it…..
