At a very young age I knew the subject of HEALTH, which included both NUTRITION & FITNESS was my path in life. As early as 2nd or 3rd grade I remember thinking becoming a gym teacher would be fun!

Professionally my most satisfying ‘jobs’ were in those arenas…starting with my first job out of college (UVM) working at Planned Parenthood as a “Health Care Worker”… from there it went: (you’ll see a common thread throughout)

Face it, Ladies, Networking- or getting paid to virtually “share” (products, services, motives, recipes etc.) is in the DNA of most women. It comes easy, is simply is what we do naturally- whether we get paid or not.

Health also equals BALANCE….anything ‘out of balance’ where you become fanatical and ignore several other areas to perfect another, is not health. How do I know? I’ve been there.

INSTEAD…..Strive for a balance of Healthy Living-

Think Positive
Eat Better
Exercise Often
Feel Good

In September 2016 Dave and I were attending a LIVE YOUR BLISS WORKSHOP with Richard Bliss Brooke who authored the books “Four Year Career” and ‘Mach2 with Your Hair on Fire’, two best selling books in the network marketing industry.

We were talking with Richard about the industry of network marketing and how there is a HUGE market with thousands of people who are “IN BETWEEN” mlm companies. In other words, they believe in the industry, have left their former mlm company and are looking…or are still hanging in there with their current company but one foot is out the door looking for something more suitable for their goals. In Between.

We agreed it is a huge market!

Richard mentioned the phrase MLM Tweeners and we laughed and realized that it really is a huge group of people….our kind of people. (We actually purchased the domain, www.mlmTweeners.com)

Entrepreneurial people who joined the industry for the ‘reason’ of creating residual income, perhaps even generational wealth, or maybe it was to earn a little extra income for an enhanced lifestyle for them and their families. Or perhaps they joined the industry for the time freedom that the industry can provide.

WE WERE ‘MLM TWEENERS’ not long ago!

In fact, prior to finding our current company, TAVALA, we had been with another company for ten years and based on the direction of our company and our paycheck, knew we needed to make a change.

Financially we were drowning! What was once financially great was dwindling ….and dwindling fast. We couldn’t recruit fast enough to equal the people leaving our company and team and we were at a place where we also had lost faith or trust in the direction and leadership of the company.

Although we weren’t actively searching for another opportunity, one FOUND US, and with some soul searching and a lot of honest conversation with the owners and corporate staff, we decided we would resign from our current companies (yes, leaving checks behind!) and delve 100% in with TAVALA.

I believe in order to attain AND sustain the financial goals that Dave and I have we knew we NEEDED to be 100% in, not dabbling, not part-time, and certainly not working two opportunities at the same time.

We’ve never seen that work and the one time we did ‘straddle two companies’ (One working with Richard Bliss Brooke July-Dec. 2016) and the other our former company, Jan. 2006-Dec. 2016) it felt almost fraudulent and we also had to be sensitive when marketing as not to ‘offend’ either company by mentioning the other products or services. It certainly wasn’t a comfortable place to be professionally or as a leader with a team.

Are you an MLM TWEENER?

Last night I Googled the term MLM TWEENER and there was no such ‘term’ however “TWEENER” IS a word: “a person or thing considered to be between two other recognized categories or types. or, “Price considered him a tweener, too small for a lineman and too big for a linebacker”.

Oxford Dictionaries says a tweener is:

Your Up Line in Network Marketing

It is often said that many people who join a network marketing company spend more time assessing the value of a $50-$100 product than on choosing their company and especially their up line. I have known people who have joined a company because their uncle Joe told them it was a ‘winner’ or they joined with the first person that shared the product or opportunity with them- out of obligation. Instead, we suggest choosing your up line sponsors like you are entering a long term relationship.

Join with someone who is committed and will be there when you need them!

Perhaps you have joined a company or become a wholesale customer because your best friend from high school called you or shared a sample…. only to find out they are clueless and don’t have any idea how to help YOU be successful in your new business venture OR perhaps they don’t even know the best way for you to consume that new health product for the best results.

Get what I am saying?

Choose…or even better yet, INTERVIEW your potential up line support team or sponsors before joining with them. Really? Yes, after all they are the people who will be partnering with you, training you and supporting you. Make sure they are serious about their role in YOUR business and that you actually LIKE THEM….or preferably -that you adore them. If you are serious about your new network marketing business you’ll be building a lasting relationship! This means you will spend a lot of time together…by phone or in person.

Look for your up line to be people who are dedicated, focused, loyal, committed, have high integrity, are positive minded and successful. When you have made your decision, make sure you listen to them, are coachable and trainable and follow their lead. This profession is different than many and it takes skills in order to have long term success.

The same goes for inviting people to take a look at your opportunity. I know (actually I have been there- and learned the hard way) where I have reached out to people who I really don’t care to be around…. people who are the Wanda Whiners and Debbie Downers. Knowing that there are personality types who are not a positive asset to your team, I simply suggest the obvious, do not invite them to join you in your new business venture.

Remember, you are creating a VIBE with your TRIBE….and you are joining another’s VIBE in THEIR TRIBE. Do you like it? Do feel a part of something bigger than yourself.

Make a list of the IDEAL distributor and then look at yourself and see if you are worthy of attracting those kinds of people to your business. If not, go back and study the network marketing industry. There are many great books available- one of my favorite being the Four Year Career by Richard Bliss Brooke. Study, learn, become a student of the industry.
