Day 5- Joy’s TAVALA Journey

I have to say adhering to one’s commitment is not always easy…. but I know it will be worth it. Today I had more time on my hands, visited family and friends, and honestly was tempted on several occasions to have a cold beer (especially after tennis) or a seasonal cocktail to join in with weekend celebration time…. but I did not. I kept thinking how I’d feel if I let myself down. I remember years ago when my son and I did a 10-day raw food challenge, he said “ANYONE CAN DO SOMETHING FOR 10-DAYS and if they can’t they are weak!”

I don’t want to be weak!

Today is Day 5 of taking care of myself in the TAVALA way I promised to…… and I have to say I feel more balanced and energized than I have in quite some time!!!!

This morning working around the house I tweaked my back and was so disappointed as today is a day when I wanted to catch up around the house, re-pot plants and also play tennis. So what did I do for my lower back that was tightening up and getting stiff and problematic? I opened the Mylar bag with our Quantum Relief Strips and placed a QR Strip on my lower left side of my back. I came to my computer, finished emails and by the time I had finished -say 30 min. or so, the stiffness and pain in my back was gone. You never know exactly where life will take you. In 2007, our lives took a turn we certainly did not foresee.

I woke up one spring morning and discovered my husband had a massive hemorrhagic stroke sometime in the middle of the night. His body already suffering the stereotypical signs of stroke– from that moment on, our lives would never be the same.

We aren’t the only ones to suffer catastrophic events . . . many have life shaking/life shaping events . . . divorce, sick child, death of a loved one, chronic illness and pain, etc. (Forgive me if I missed your issue because they are all significant ramifications for the family.)

For us, we immediately went from two incomes to NONE. I was now a full-time caregiver and he was my patient. How quickly the relationship changes when he can no longer speak, understand what I say or walk.

We were in our 50’s when this happened. When I look back, I say, “If only we had planned for lives differently.” Health wise, my husband had done all the right things. The stroke had really come out of nowhere.

But financially, we had not prepared to stop working so early in life. We had some savings but of course, not enough to live the next 30 years, Lord willing.

What I’m doing now, working with Tavala, a home based business, had I hypothetically, started in my 20’s or 30’s or just about ANYTIME before our family was ALL IN with catastrophic illness, my business would have continued to grow even while I was caring for my ill husband.

A friend of mine in a similar Direct Sales company just lost his wife. She was very ill this last year but his business was already strong enough that it continued to grow while he took off caring for his wife and family.
