I came across a page in an old journal today, something I had written several years ago, and decided to publish it here in a blog. This is after several people on our team asked me “What is your story”? Well, this is not about our company or a personal transformation or a testimonial, but it will give you a glimpse into a little bit about who I am…and why “JOY”.
Ironically on Saturday our book, “In Their Own Words” arrived, all 1500 copies, first edition. It is a book highlighting stories of people on our Tavala team who have overcome ‘something’ worth sharing and how they proceeded to go on to create a new life for themselves. I just LOVE highlighting others successes and shining the spot light on them!
A little about me and how I think….
I believe…… We create daily in all we do, the thoughts we have, the pictures we put in our minds, the words we speak both to ourselves and to others and the people we associate with. Each thought- hopefully creates positive experiences in our lives. I choose to think positive thoughts and associate only with conscious people of high integrity, who are also doing their best to make the world a better place.
It was just a month before my 47th birthday (I’m 61 years old now) that I looked in the mirror and decided I not only desired but deserved more joy in my life. I also wanted to find a business or career I could have the time to enjoy….while rediscovering MY new FOUND JOY.
So what did I do? I ended a home-based career in event planning (For 10 years it had been my dream job but by this time it was something I no longer enjoyed), I moved, changed my last name, began using my middle name JOY, rather than Deborah and lastly I had a small “joy” tattoo put on my body….something to remind me of the emotion of JOY! 
This is when I did the following:
I am a connector, a net-worker …. Not so much a network marketer (although I am that now!) but I’ve always enjoyed bringing people together, with ease. I ask “What are you looking for? What makes your heart sing? What are your talents and how can you share them?” and then I put their answers into action.
Do you know that the majority of things people are searching for can be found in this wonderful career or even ‘hobby’ called Network Marketing? (Meeting people, More travel, More income, Opportunity to use your skills and leadership, Opportunity to teach and inspire others, Inspire and Motivate others, Time freedom, Leaving a legacy, More quality family time, etc.)
I remember being told at a very young age that I am a natural ‘connector’. I always wondered what that meant and also how one could make a living (or make a LIFE) ‘connecting’. In my early 30’s I was introduced to network marketing. Connecting with others is something that comes easy and natural and that IS the thread of building a team while working together.
Part of the journey begins with SELF CARE…. And by taking care of ourselves we are then capable to assist and care for the well-being of other people. If you aren’t nurturing yourself, doing what you love and replenishing your ‘energy’ then you won’t be able to be your biggest gift to the world.
Yes, I now go by my middle name “Joy” but I was born Deborah Joy Edgerton. My last name has changed several times throughout my adult journey called LIFE, and today I embrace my newfound freedom of being a powerful woman of 61, who aspires to help, connect, network with and inspire others to live their lives with JOY!
My background?
I have been a personal trainer and transformational life coach, natural body builder, nutrition enthusiast, and a health advocate who happens to share and sell products that transform lives. I get up each and every day hoping to inspire others to both take control of their health and also to discover and create the life that makes their hearts sing.
My greatest joys? Being a mother of two adult children and four granddaughters; a wife to my husband, Dave, who is also my business partner. My life continues to evolve and I am learning daily to live more in the present! Living with gratitude for all things I already have helps attract MORE wonderful things into my life. I believe we manifest things in our lives.
