Divine Discontent

Divine Discontent

Growing up, and at a young age, I knew I wanted to accomplish many things in this lifetime. At a young age I knew I wanted to see the world. I wanted to meet new people, travel to exotic places and make a huge impact on “something” worthwhile. I thought having lofty dreams and goals were a good thing but my mother would always repeat the same comment…Why can’t you be satisfied with what you have”? Or “Why do you always have to strive for something more?” I took that as a negative and began to doubt my desires for more. Maybe I should be happy with what I have….or am I just discontent?

Several years ago, on April 5th, I read an excerpt from Alan Cohen, from the book “A Deep Breath of Life”. It spoke to me……

It was entitled Divine Discontent and it read…..

“There is a part of us that will not let us be content until we become all that we are capable of being. Life is not about resting on our laurels and hanging out in our comfort zone; Jack Boland urged, “Do not let good be the enemy of better”. Your current situation may be good, but if a greater opportunity presents itself, you must be open to expand. This does not mean you are to run away or violate your integrity. If, however, you can step ahead with honestly, honor and peace, you will enjoy the benefits of living in a larger universe.

Muscles stay strong and flexible only by use and stretching, and so does our mind. Challenge is the universes way of showing us that we are bigger than we thought we were.”

Divine Discontent- what is it?

divine discontentThere’s a phrase that we use in knowing when it’s time for you to stretch. That phrase is, “divine discontent.” Divine discontent is what you feel when you get that urge of boredom. “Things are not happening. It’s time to move on. I’m not happy here. There’s something missing in my life.”

Divine Discontent…

Remember these words. They mean that you’re not reaching your potential. There’s something else for you to do. It could be anything from a change of job to a new opportunity to adding hobbies or developing something in another way. Your soul pushes you and nudges you to always be greater than you are, to reach out a little bit more, to do a little bit more.

If you get to a point that you feel like saying “Is that all there is?” I’m going to be like this for the rest of my life? Do I really want to do that?” then it’s time to make a change. If you don’t stretch yourself, you reach a point where all of a sudden even though you’re doing everything right, you’re just sort of bored where you are, and then chaos happens. The unexpected that you don’t want happens. All of a sudden you’re in a place where you wonder, “How in the world? What did I do to create this situation?” If you reach a point like that, you go into denial. “This is not my truth.”

Tell the Universe that your next step is here and now, so that you can move through this and get to the next part very quickly and very easily. How do you know that you’re right at the point of a new level of receiving? Well, that’s the divine discontent that you feel. That’s something there that you’re not reaching for. Your soul is saying, “I really would like to have a new step here.” Remember that life comes to us through steps.

“I’m ready for the next step of my divine plan, which is greater health, happiness and prosperity.” Your divine plan is to be happy, healthy, whole, prosperous, complete in all ways, able to manifest and do and give and share all that you want to give, do and share. That is your divine plan. Don’t settle…

divine discontentBless your dreams, your desires, and your sense that there must be more. There is more because you are more!
