I Had it All Along- Rediscovering my Passion!

Rediscovering my Passion

Today I woke up and just HAD to get to my laptop before my ideas left my consciousness. I really DO need to begin sleeping with a pad of paper and pen next to my bed again!

I had a very deep conversation, with a dear friend the other day. We were both talking about rediscovering or perhaps even finding our passions. We both began new marketing businesses within the past year but unlike our other business ventures these have only trickled with the success we desire or are accustomed to. In fact, quite clearly, the Universe may be telling us we already have it ALL and to STOP looking OUTSIDE ourselves for something our souls already know. Perhaps WE are our own stumbling blocks!

As she and I shared our insights on where we are in our lives, we both shared how as life coaches, we successfully assist others in discovering their live path and passion.

We also both laughed and shared our experiences of going through menopause, and as I lay in bed early this morning, I realize when I am uptight, unsure and have an “inner conflict” it triggers a hot flash- or internal burning…that travels right up my body and flushes my face creating the color of a tomato. I realized this morning that my FLUSH as it is sometimes called by others, may be my own bodies wisdom on removing what is no longer needed in my life or serving me. I have heard of women who have embraced their “flushes” and the negative intensity shifts. I shall try this.

courage-and-passion-to-live-your-life-150x150Back to my story of my friend and my conversation the other day- friend to friend, coach to coach. I have known Patricia for close to 2 decades and always have admired her for her sense of self, her independence and successful coaching and training business that has taken her all over the world. Someday, I remember thinking to myself (especially following a divorce in my late 40’s) I want HER life! Well as it turns out, her life is quite perfect for her and mine is already perfect for me! If I was traveling the world- I would not be available for the daily joys and happenings of my aging parents or my daughter and two young granddaughters. I would not have witnessed or been available to help create my son’s recent marriage to a beautiful Australian woman who simply swept him off his feet with love and adoration. (They gave me less than two week notice of the date of the special event!) I would have been somewhere else with business obligations. If I were traveling the world, I would not be here enjoying my deep love and relationship with Dave, whom I met over 6 years ago. So why would I ever wish to be anyone other than who I already am? A lesson I want to embrace fully is to enjoy the HERE and NOW with a full sense of gratitude.

Passion For What You Already Have

As Patricia and I began to talk I am sure she saw some things in what I said about my life, much like I did about hers. As a coach and professional speaker, she has enough material in her arsenal of seminars/coaching and “sharing” to write a book. In fact, for the past 10 years I believe she has been working on her “book”. So while both she and I are looking outside ourselves, what we have it RIGHT HERE in the here and now and being made available to us. We just haven’t been looking in the right direction.

She went on to explain how she is blessed to live on the beautiful island of Maui with an amazing and supportive partner who happens to be an incredible Italian artist. She was sharing with me how she admires that he goes to his art studio not trying to paint, but to create from inspiration and spirit. The end result is always a beautiful piece of art that he is happy with and others wish to purchase. Money flows into his hands without effort or consideration of finding his passion.

She mentioned that he recently told her to “relax” about finding or rediscovering her passion- it sounds like a wise idea. Reflecting on a recent story I wrote about the author of EAT PRAY LOVE, Elizabeth Gilbert whom after her stellar success with her book…. couldn’t find her passion. She was a writer, that WAS her passion and yet she simply couldn’t finish the book she had started. (https://joysfaves.com//finding-your-passion/) Simply put, Elizabeth faced a writer’s block so what did she do? She stopped writing, did something totally unrelated- and took up gardening. And in the process, her passion returned without forcing and she wrote another great book, called “Commitment.”

What is interesting here is Patricia was telling me that Maui is the ideal place in the world for writers and artists, in fact, many of her friends share those creative talents. And here she is living in paradise for a writer, with few financial obligations and she is striving outside where she is- hoping to discover her next mark she wishes to make in the world. The difference is when we live our lives as “ human beings” and rather than “human doers.” How do I know? Because I am going through a similar experience back here in Vermont! Ditto, carbon copy- in my 50’s and wanting to create MORE and hoping that what I decide to do on a business level will accelerate the process. That I’ll wake up one day with an AH-HA- moment getting a message from the UNIVERSE saying this is it! Only it happened a little different, this morning, when I woke up, I realized the AH-HA message is we both already have it- we both own/know our personal passions. We have been doing it in one form or another for decades! It is nothing new. It may be different, but it nothing new!

So how does this relate to the businesses I am in? Well, for starters, one of my deep passions is assisting people lead healthier lives on all levels- body, mind and spirit. Daily I read and share different tips or insights with those people I meet, care about and love. So the UNIVERSE has given me two ways I can work within my personal passions. As random as it sounds, one is working with a product called NeriumAD and the other an internet blogging program with Empower Network.

In 2004 I was diagnosed with squamous skin cancer on my right shoulder. I believe that experience has assisted me in so many ways- by number 1, never allowing my physical body to get too out of balance and also that taking care of the largest organ in the body which is the SKIN is of utmost importance. I do this through healthy living, natural healthy foods and non-chemical skin care products. NeriumAD has been a product that not only addresses physical imbalances and natural occurances like aging, wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, pore size but also sun damage. It has worked miracles on my pre-cancer spots called actinic keratosis. I will never be without it!

The second is the Blogging platform with Empower Network. Years ago I did a blog on my personal experience doing a whole-foods cleanse. Years later I still have people tell me they really enjoyed my blog and got inspired by it to begin living a more natural life with healthier foods. I had no idea at that time that blogging = journaling with an internet presence that lasts a life time. WOW, what an incredible way to begin impacting the world, one person at a time, from the comforts of my own home! And as I attract people to my blog, I build relationships, build contacts, share information, attract people who enjoy similar things as I do, and can earn income.

live-a-life-that-matters-150x150In our last conversation I told Patricia that for some odd reason I keep avoiding my personal calling- It shows up in my life with ease and I quickly dismiss it. And yet the Universe never seems to give up on me. Women in their 30s, 40,s 50,s and beyond reach out to me for personal training and coaching and I reluctantly agree to assist them. How ungrateful is that!?! I know it seems obvious that the Universe is already supporting me- and yet I discount the message….up until now. Today things changed- things shifted!

Giving Power to my Passions

Today I will begin to embrace those “synchronistic” phone calls, emails, text messages or “internal messages” that come to me. I will attend those events and have a meaningful connection with people that cross my path. In doing so I have no question in my mind that I will be back with pep in my step and embracing the work that I am meant to do with unstoppable passion.

The other day Patricia mentioned knowing what her calling was at a young age and on some level I did as well. Later in college I designed my major in community health and counseling. 25+ years later I went on to become a certified Personal Trainer and Transformational Coach. THOSE are the talents, gifts I have to impact the world- with women in particular.

It was here all along. I didn’t see it. I ignored it! The majority of income that has been flowing into my life has been within these arenas. Now that I have asked the Universe to make it CEO, Clear-Easy-and Obvious I think I get it. However none of this was on my mind until my conversation with my friend. I didn’t see it in myself at first, we rarely do- but seeing that SHE has it all right now in EVERY impeccable way-and that the Universe is supporting her 100%- I began to reflect on my own life and noticed it as well. What a beautiful ah-ha moment! And to think it took taking 24 hours OFF from business, playing with my two granddaughters, to see it Clear, Easy and Obvious- I had it all along!

Now I am off to call my friend to see if this info has any relevance in her life…and then I am going to encourage her to see that THIS is the perfect time to write her book…which in my mind, will be a future best seller! The Universe has made this possible in EVERY possible way. “Ya just gotta love it…..”

TRIPLE YOUR RATE OF FAILURE AND YOU MIGHT SUCCEED

What are you afraid of failing at?

Taking risks, doing things that are outside your comfort zone, or making mistakes? You’ve heard the question “What would you do if you knew you could not fail?” Well, writer and business man, Og Mandino, did this question one better. When he was asked what the secret of success was, he replied,“You should triple your rate of failure.”

What could you get from trying to fail?

  • You learn. You get a direct insight that is going to stay with you better than reading any blog post. This can be even more effective if you keep a record of what caused you to fail.
  • You get through it. Every time you fail, you learn a little more about what you can take. You learn more about who you are, and what you’ve got in you. You realize, “Yes, I can get through this. I’ve survived this and now I’m ready for more.” You know the future is going to be awesome.
  • You get perspective. Most of the things you worry about happening will never happen. It’s like being afraid to look under the bed with a flashlight because you are scared of what may get you. If you look anyway, to your utter disbelief you find … the cat. Sure, something is going to happen when you try, but when you actually try to fail, you will find that even messing up is almost never as bad as you think it is.
  • You stop worrying about what others think. You are trying to do all the things that you thought meant failing. What is someone else going to say to stop you, “you might fail”? You are now free to say, “du-uh”!

What about tripling your rate of failure?

If you want to triple it, you can’t afford to stay down. You fail, get up, and you do it again. You keep trying to fail, until you get so good at it that you miss the mark. Then, when you fail at failing, you’ve just made the mistake of succeeding. Oh well, can’t win ‘em all.

So what are the best ways to fail?

  • Make sure you do the things you want to do. As awesome as it is to go against the flow … make sure that it’s your flow that you go with. If you go with everything that every other rebel does, then it’s just as bad as if you followed the mainstream. Listen to your own voice.
  • Look for where the risk of not trying is higher than the risk of failing. You only have one life to live, and it’s not going to live itself without you. Do not go to the end of your life without making sure that you didn’t waste it!
  • Always get up and try again. Commit to following through. It is going to take time to fail as many times as you need to. If every time you fail, you get back up, you will just keep getting a little better.

It’s always possible to fail, so why fight it? Run head first at the things you were afraid of failing at. People learn best through trial and error.

Make the errors.

There will never be a time when you know that you won’t fail. So what? Instead of trying to trick your mind into thinking that failure is impossible, embrace the possibility of failure. It’s just not worth living your life in fear of failing.

So, I dare you to try to fail.

You just might make the mistake of succeeding.

Finding Your Passion

Finding Your Passion

2013 seems to be the year for me to find my passion. I’m not sure WHY this year I have been ‘plagued’ with desire- more than other years, but I have. So at age 56 I begin my journey.

Many articles have been written on Finding your Passion- but what about addressing where to begin to find your passion, how to find your passion or even more crucial, what if you can’t find it?

Today, like many days…I stumbled upon “something” that I was meant to find. Sometimes it is an article, sometimes a person, sometimes a song and sometimes a quote….. I had just finished day 18 of the OPRAH and DEEPAK CHOPRA 21 Day Meditation Challenge and the topic was finding your PASSION. It led me to an article on the book EAT PRAY LOVE and how Elizabeth Gilbert, author of the book-left the comforts of her life in the USA and traveled to Italy, India and Bali for a year…in search of herself. I think one of the reasons that this book became an instant sensation is because so many of us are searching for our personal passion/mission in life and truly admired the courage she had to take her personal journey inward. EAT PRAY LOVE is based on her true experiences.

I’d love to share the article that I found as it may have a similar impact on you as well.

What to Do if You Can’t Find Your Passion

By Elizabeth Gilbert

Elizabeth-Gilbert-Eat-Pray-Love-150x150
Photo: Shea Hembrey

When Elizabeth Gilbert’s passion went AWOL, she was shocked, bereft…and stumped—until she got a piece of advice that led her back to the thing she was meant to do.

I’ve always considered myself lucky that I do not have many passions. There’s only one pursuit that I have ever truly loved, and that pursuit is writing. This means, conveniently enough, that I never had to search for my destiny; I only had to obey it. What am I here for? No problem! I’m here to be a writer, and only a writer, from my first cigarette to my last dying day! No doubt about it!

Except that two years ago, I completely lost my life’s one true passion, and all my certainties collapsed with it.
Eat-Pray-Love-150x150Here’s what happened: After the unexpected success of the book EAT, PRAY, LOVE I diligently sat down to work on my next project—another memoir. I worked hard, as always, conducting years of research and interviews. And when I was finished, I had produced a first draft that was… awful. I’m not being falsely modest here. Truly, the book was crap. Worse, I couldn’t figure out why it was crap. Moreover, it was due at the publisher.

Demoralized, I wrote a letter to my editor, admitting that I had utterly failed. He was nice about it, considering. He said, “Don’t worry. You’ll figure it out.” But I did worry, because for the first time in my life, I had absolutely no passion for writing. I was charred and dry. This was terrifyingly disorienting. I couldn’t begin to know who I was without that old, familiar fire. I felt like a cardboard cutout of myself.

My old friend Sarah, seeing me so troubled, came to the rescue with this sage advice: “Take a break! Don’t worry about following your passion for a while. Just follow your curiosity instead.”

She was not suggesting that I ditch my passion forever, of course, but rather that I temporarily ease off the pressure by exploring something new, some completely unrelated creative endeavor—something that I could find interesting, but with much lower emotional stakes. When passion feels so out of reach, Sarah explained, curiosity can be a calming diversion. If passion is a tower of flame, then curiosity is a modest spark—and we can almost always summon up a modest spark of interest about something.

So what was my modest spark? Gardening, as it turned out. Following my friend’s advice, I stepped away from my writing desk and spent six months absentmindedly digging in the dirt. I had some successes (fabulous tomatoes!); I had some failures (collapsed bean poles!). None of it really mattered, though, because gardening, after all, was just my curiosity—something to keep me modestly engaged through a difficult period. (At such moments, believe me, even modest engagement can feel like a victory.)

Then the miracle happened. Autumn came. I was pulling up the spent tomato vines when—quite suddenly, out of nowhere—I realized exactly how to fix my book. I washed my hands, returned to my desk, and within three months I’d completed the final version of Committed—a book that I now love.

Gardening, in other words, had turned me back into a writer.

Your Passion

So here’s my weird bit of advice: If you’ve lost your life’s true passion (or if you’re struggling desperately to find passion in the first place), don’t sweat it. Back off for a while. But don’t go idle, either. Just try something different, something you don’t care about so much. Why not try following mere curiosity, with its humble, roundabout magic? At the very least, it will keep you pleasantly distracted while life sorts itself out. At the very most, your curiosity may surprise you. Before you even realize what’s happening, it may have led you safely all the way home.

Healing Properties of Amethyst

Amethyst

This morning I was reading about a friend who recommended Amethyst to help heal a friends headaches. I found this information fascinating. My birthstone (February) happens to be the Amethyst, and aside from that, I have always wondered why I have been drawn to this powerful gem. We have Amethyst clusters positioned around our home, thanks to the principles of Feng Shui and color purple but I intuitively have always FELT a special draw or affinity to this beautiful stone. Today I decided, if I were ever to get remarried, that the Amethyst would be my choice of gem over the diamond…hands down. A dear friend gifted me a beautiful tennis bracelet several years back, that is adorned with amethysts laid in gold. I recall during one of my many moves in 2004 that I bumped the bracelet and ended up losing one of the gem stones from the bracelet. I was devastated! I went to a local jewel and he couldn’t find the ideal amethyst gem but replaced it with a Citrine. It happened to be where the clasp came together so it was perfect. Both are great gems for protection. To this day the Amethyst and Citrine are my favorite gems.

Amethyst-150x150❈ AMETHYST ❈ – The word amethyst comes from the Greek word amethystos, meaning “non-intoxicating.” This stone has a long history with religious practices. In the Egyptian Book of the Dead, instructions are given for placing heart shaped amethyst on the body of the deceased. Typical colors are light slightly-pinkish violet to a deep grape purple.

Energy: Receptive
Planets: Jupiter, Neptune
Element: Water, Air
Deities: Bacchus, Dionysus, Diana
Zodiac: Virgo, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, Pisces
Chakra: Third Eye, Crown
Powers: Dreams, Overcoming Alcoholism, Healing, Psychic abilities, Peace, Love, Protection Against Thieves, Courage, Happiness, Meditation, Balance, Communication, Nobility, Spiritual awareness Mystical Properties: Stone of “Spirituality and Contentment” Amethysts have a soothing and relaxing effect on people, they promote healthy sleep habits when placed on the body or under the pillow.
Amethyst promotes shrewdness in business matters, gives victory and quickens the mind to help control negative thoughts.
Because the stone has transmutational energies, it helps to open gateways into intense and transforming spiritual experiences, and can protect the wearer from black magic. Known as a change stone, amethyst can bring about any type of change in your life and consciousness. It also breaks up old emotional thought processes and assists psychic opening in a grounding manner.

Magical Properties:

Amethyst is said to attract justice and protect against burglars and thieves. It also wards off danger and violent death.
Amethyst increases the activity in the right brain, cuts through illusion, and helps to develop the psychic abilities. It strengthens and develops intuition, inspiration, healing, and channeling as well as raising thoughts and aspirations to a higher spiritual level.
Store a small piece of amethyst with your tarot cards or runes to keep the power of the divination tools high.

Healing Properties:

An amethyst crystal is nearly indispensable to healers. Single crystals are very beneficial but clusters are even more powerful. They are powerful enough- in fact that a cluster of amethyst can cleanse other stones.
When worn, amethyst will alleviate migraines. Headaches caused by nerves will subside when a amethyst cross section or geode is placed in the room. It is also used to help improve concentration. Amethyst calms mental disorders, purifies the blood, strengthens the immune system as well as balancing and healing all chakras.
People who regularly wear an amethyst necklace are said to fascinate others with their personality and charisma.

Connecting Health and Balance

Connecting

Connecting for Balance

I am participating in Oprah’s and Deepak’s 21 day meditation. Today is day 12 and a very appropriate topic for me. It is connecting for balance.

We are social creatures, who thrive in community. Connecting with one another allows us to express our most heartfelt hopes and dreams and be of service to one another. Our supportive relationships enhance the positive messages we send our bodies each day and invite better health and wellbeing into our lives. But how does this relate to health? The 21 day meditation is to help the participant attain PERFECT HEALTH. And so I did what most of us do in this information age, I GOOGLED articles on health and human connection and found a great one written Glenn D. Braustein, MD January 24, 2011

As I prepared for my meditation today I was reminded to take a moment to be grateful for the many individuals who contribute to my life and in whose lives you make a difference.

The centering thought for today is: I cherish my every connection.

connecting

Although the term “social network” has come to mean connections on the Internet, in a scientific context a social network refers to relationships that occur between real people in real time, on a regular basis: friends, family and co-workers. Real human connections and the behavioral influences that result from them can be so powerful, they have given rise to an area of science called “network science,” which examines how behavior and behavioral changes spread through interconnected groups of people. These include health-related behaviors and conditions ranging from weight gain, smoking and smoking cessation, sleep, drug and alcohol use to emotional wellbeing and longevity.

One landmark study on obesity published in The New England Journal of Medicine in 2007 found that having just one friend who becomes obese can increase a person’s chance of becoming obese by 57 percent, and that weight gain isn’t only influenced by a person’s friends, but by friends of friends who have gained weight (3 degrees of separation). Conversely, as a Weight Watchers member will tell you, meeting regularly with a group of people who are losing weight can make a significant difference in keeping your own diet on track. A social network not only affects the speed at which people adopt new habits but also the extent to which they stick to them. The more successful any social structure is at building and maintaining relationships, the longer it will produce healthy benefits for its members.

Does that mean that relationships can be as much of a factor in good health as cholesterol, blood pressure and BMI? Although evidence-based research on psychosocial processes and positive health outcomes has become prevalent only within the past decade and a half, the results are persuasive.

Connecting

Physical health

Data from 148 studies on health outcomes and the social relationships of more than 300,000 men and woman across the developed world determined that people with strong social connections had an average 50 percent higher chance of survival in the seven and a half years following the study than people with poor social ties. The results didn’t vary significantly by sex, age or health status.

In another well-known study on the influence of social connections to the workings of the immune system, hundreds of healthy volunteers were exposed to the common cold virus, then quarantined for several days. The participants with more social connections from different contexts – such as work, sports and spiritual activities – were less likely to get a cold than volunteers who were more socially isolated. Simply put, the immune systems of people with a variety of friends tended to work better, possibly due to lower levels of stress hormone release by the well-connected people.

Mental health

How do personal connections impact physiological functions? Many regulatory systems in the body, especially blood pressure, metabolism and stress hormones, have all shown to be affected by relationships and the quality of social interaction. Lab studies indicate that in stressful situations, a person’s blood pressure and heart rate will spike less if someone is with them. In one study, children who were allowed to speak to their mothers after a stressful event experienced a spike in the levels of a neurotransmitter that decreases hormonal stress response (oxytocin), compared to children who weren’t allowed to talk to their mothers. Brain imaging studies have also revealed neurological differences between people who were alone and those who had support. As for cultivating a strong and supportive system in order to promote good health, one way to have that is to sit around the dinner table and having dinner with family.

Public health

Beyond the ability of social networks to influence the health of an individual, they can also influence public health. The thinking is that “social connectors” – people who have more than an average number of friends and would likely be exposed to more germs – would probably also be first to contract contagious diseases like the flu. Tracking the “social connector” would serve as an early detection system for epidemics, indicating the people to vaccinate to slow the spread of a particular disease. A Harvard study that used electronic medical records at the university health service to track the spread of the H1N1 flu showed that an outbreak of flu developed approximately two weeks earlier in a group of students who were all identified as “friends” of students, than in a group of randomly selected participants. The concept of social “connectors” playing an important role in creating social epidemics was beautifully described by Malcolm Gladwell in The Tipping Point.

The care and feeding of healthy relationships

Since our ability to make and maintain human connections has such an impact on our physiological, emotional and even societal health, maybe there should be a box on medical charts after cholesterol, blood pressure and BMI called “Relationships.” Are they positive? Are they helping or hindering our own good health? Are we exercising them properly? Research shows it’s worth the time and effort to cultivate healthy relationships and keep them up and running.

Reference from Glenn D. Braunstein, M.D. January 24, 2011

“Each friend represents a world in us, a world possibly not born until they arrive, and it is only by this me
>

“You may say I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one. I hope someday you’ll join us. And the world will live as one.”

Mack just shot this video in the parking lot of his Chase branch where he just deposited $7,866.65 in checks that came into his mailbox today.

But as always, don’t take my word for it, you can see proof here

Multiple Streams of Income

Remember,

Mack deposits multiple checks like this not just once,
but MANY TIMES throughout the week, all thanks to the concept
of “Multiple Streams of Income”.

And as an EZMF member, you could use Mack’s FREE
“EZ Money Formula” system to do the same too.

But that won’t happen until you TAKE ACTION and get your

FREE “EZMF” system set up.

You’ve heard about it, You understand it…. Now why don’t you set it up in your life?

So go ahead and follow these 2-Steps at this website now to get started:

Don’t Just Build Something Once

Don’t Just Build Something Once

If you are going to put in the time to build a business then you will neccessarily need to build a clientele. Most people only think about thier next client. You want a business that will take care of you year after year? Got to build a way for you marketing to keep bringing you clients.

Don’t Just Build Something Once

We build a blog. We write daily, post it and over the past 70 plus days our blog is starting to get organic traffic from Google searches. If you are consistent you will likely never need to use paid advertising again! Just build a blog, brand yourself and keep doing it daily. Blogs stay out there FOREVER ! Can you imagine you posts being read in 5 or 10 years…. they will be. And people will connect with You!

This article calls the method I’m describing as backlinks. I find this similar, but you will get the point.

By Seth Godin: Building your backlist (and living with it forever)

Authors and musicians have one, certainly. This is the book you wrote seven years ago or the album from early in your career. The book keeps selling, spreading the ideas and making a difference. The album gets played on the radio, earning you new fans.

“Backlist” is what publishers call the stuff that got published a while ago, but that’s still out there, selling.

The Wizard of Oz, Bob Dylan’s Greatest Hits and Starsky and Hutch all live on the backlist

Without a backlist, all book publishers would go out of business in no time. The backlist pays dividends long after the work is over.

Advertisers didn’t used to have a backlist. You paid for that magazine or newspaper or TV ad, and within just one cycle, it was gone, forever.

Today, of course, the work you put on the internet has a good chance of staying there for a very long time. The internet doesn’t easily forget.

That TED talk, then is going to be around for your grandchildren to see. The review of your new restaurant, or the generous connection you made on a social network–they’re going to last.

I almost hired someone a few years ago–until I googled her and discovered that the first two matches were pictures of her drinking beer from a funnel, and her listed hobby was, “binge drinking.” Backlist!

Two things are going to change as you develop a backlist:

–You’re going to become a lot more aware of the posterity of the work you do. It’s all on tape, all left behind. Just as you’re less likely to litter in your own backyard, the person aware of his backlist becomes more careful and civic minded.

–You’re going to want people to pay attention to your backlist… in my case, the free videos, various ebooks and printed things I’ve done over the years. In your case, maybe it’s your blog, or the projects you’ve built or the reputation you’ve earned.

Your history of work is as important as the work you’ll do tomorrow.

Build your Blog, post daily and brand yourself. You will have a steady stream of clients/prospects from now on! You will never have to do it again!
