I came across a page in an old journal today, something I had written several years ago, and decided to publish it here in a blog. This is after several people on our team asked me “What is your story”? Well, this is not about our company or a personal transformation or a testimonial, but it will give you a glimpse into a little bit about who I am…and why “JOY”.

Ironically on Saturday our book, “In Their Own Words” arrived, all 1500 copies, first edition. It is a book highlighting stories of people on our Tavala team who have overcome ‘something’ worth sharing and how they proceeded to go on to create a new life for themselves. I just LOVE highlighting others successes and shining the spot light on them!

A little about me and how I think….

I believe…… We create daily in all we do, the thoughts we have, the pictures we put in our minds, the words we speak both to ourselves and to others and the people we associate with. Each thought- hopefully creates positive experiences in our lives. I choose to think positive thoughts and associate only with conscious people of high integrity, who are also doing their best to make the world a better place.

It was just a month before my 47th birthday (I’m 61 years old now) that I looked in the mirror and decided I not only desired but deserved more joy in my life. I also wanted to find a business or career I could have the time to enjoy….while rediscovering MY new FOUND JOY.

So what did I do? I ended a home-based career in event planning (For 10 years it had been my dream job but by this time it was something I no longer enjoyed), I moved, changed my last name, began using my middle name JOY, rather than Deborah and lastly I had a small “joy” tattoo put on my body….something to remind me of the emotion of JOY!

This is when I did the following:

I am a connector, a net-worker …. Not so much a network marketer (although I am that now!) but I’ve always enjoyed bringing people together, with ease. I ask “What are you looking for? What makes your heart sing? What are your talents and how can you share them?” and then I put their answers into action.

Do you know that the majority of things people are searching for can be found in this wonderful career or even ‘hobby’ called Network Marketing? (Meeting people, More travel, More income, Opportunity to use your skills and leadership, Opportunity to teach and inspire others, Inspire and Motivate others, Time freedom, Leaving a legacy, More quality family time, etc.)

I remember being told at a very young age that I am a natural ‘connector’. I always wondered what that meant and also how one could make a living (or make a LIFE) ‘connecting’. In my early 30’s I was introduced to network marketing. Connecting with others is something that comes easy and natural and that IS the thread of building a team while working together.

Part of the journey begins with SELF CARE…. And by taking care of ourselves we are then capable to assist and care for the well-being of other people. If you aren’t nurturing yourself, doing what you love and replenishing your ‘energy’ then you won’t be able to be your biggest gift to the world.

Yes, I now go by my middle name “Joy” but I was born Deborah Joy Edgerton. My last name has changed several times throughout my adult journey called LIFE, and today I embrace my newfound freedom of being a powerful woman of 61, who aspires to help, connect, network with and inspire others to live their lives with JOY!

My background?

I have been a personal trainer and transformational life coach, natural body builder, nutrition enthusiast, and a health advocate who happens to share and sell products that transform lives. I get up each and every day hoping to inspire others to both take control of their health and also to discover and create the life that makes their hearts sing.

My greatest joys? Being a mother of two adult children and four granddaughters; a wife to my husband, Dave, who is also my business partner. My life continues to evolve and I am learning daily to live more in the present! Living with gratitude for all things I already have helps attract MORE wonderful things into my life. I believe we manifest things in our lives.

I love sharing success stories …. and here’s one on a friend that I was introduced to over 15 years ago. Kanane Felo.

Our paths recently crossed when she contacted me for two reasons:

She had seen on Facebook that I was talking about a product that helps you lose weight and have more energy!
She learned that there is a way you can earn money by sharing the Tavala products that she was reading about.

She was looking to drop weight that had crept up over the past 10 years as well as to find a way to earn additional income to supplement her care giver profession. As time goes on, she added, it becomes more difficult lifting, bending and care-taking a 200+ lb. patient. IN HER OWN WORDS…

“I have always been the person that does what it takes to survive. I have never been the person to let fear hold me back.
My husband and I and 4 children live a very simple life. Working on ranches, welding, mechanic, mail delivery, fish hatchery, promotional items, construction and even some cattle artificial insemination to make life go smoothly! I was taught to work hard, and life will be easy. (NOT) I have always wanted to lose weight as 4 children left my body a bit different and my energy level was at an all-time, LOW-but I carried forward. Several years ago, a friend sent me a sample of a product that would help me lost weight and gain energy… so of course I tried it and shared with everyone.

That company taught me the dos…. and the DONT’S of Network Marketing!!! I had a 5-year sprint with that company and made some good money. We were the top of the top, money, enrollers, doing network marketing full time and changing lives. We even built lifelong friendship and seriously found our spot in life…. changing people’s lives for health, wealth and lifestyle… PERFECT FIT for what I love to do!

Then my world came crashing down. The company turned to retail and took my entire 5 years of work with them. I could have stayed with them and continue to promote the company, but I would have taken all my down lines money and left them with nothing… while still selling products I believed in. That was a Deal breaker for me. Integrity was everything. I live in a rural area with barely 15000 people and if I had done that my name would have been mud.

I went back to work…. punching a time clock building someone else dreams. My husband, Travis, went back to welding (which absolutely makes him physically ill with the dirty environment) and we begin our journey again. Travis is working 3 jobs and me 2 and we are just trying to survive… Not sure why I had not lost hope, but I did not…

I never did give up on Network Marketing and after shopping for the ‘next thing’…and many samples and hours on the phone with many companies, I could not find that fire I once had. Maybe I was pouting but it was not there.
Then someone introduced me to Tavala (honestly, all the while I was literally rolling my eyes because every company has the same key phrases!)

All I needed was a product that did what it said it did and a company that did what it said it would do.

Honesty and transparency was all I was looking for; however, I had not made up my mind to go all in again.

This testimonial is very dear to my heart as it is from my daughter-in-law, Brie, who recently had a baby girl. I now am blessed with four granddaughters, ages 10, 6,3 and newborn.

In Brie’s own words:

“I used the Quantum Relief strips during my pregnancy of my second child, during labor and throughout post-partum.

It’s fun to share stories like Owena’s – we’re sure you will be inspired with how she transformed many areas of her life in less than a year.

In Her Own Words:

“Life is funny and full of surprises! Approximately two years prior to being introduced to Tavala Trim I began a journey to lose weight. I started following the “Prestige Fit Body 8-week Fat Loss Plan.” It was strictly nutritional and involved very little exercise. I lost 50 pounds and felt great.

However, filing for divorce took an emotional toll on me and I ended up gaining 25 of those pounds back! My energy was low, and I needed help!

January of last year I received samples of the Tavala Trim from Chris, my former weight loss coach, who I had previously worked with to lose my 50 pounds. He and his wife La-Shrana were testing the product with friends and clients and they loved the feedback they were getting. Meet Super Star Soccer Player Ricardo McPhee (also known as “RJ” and “Bobby Ricky”) whose talent and entrepreneurial spirit will take him far!

In His Own Words:

“Since I was a kid, I had dreams of becoming a professional soccer player – the first in my family to ever make it big. I was fortunate to be supported by my mother and grandmother, who are both natives of The Bahamas. They taught me the importance of being focused, persistent and consistent in pursuing my dreams. Whenever I feel discouraged and wanting to throw in the towel, I would reflect on these words, “Quitting is not an OPTION.”

Back in June 2017, I can remember when my mother said, “Tavala is going to pay the deposit for you to attend Richmond International Academy and Soccer Academy (RIASA) in London.” So said, so done! Within a matter of a month, my superstar mom, Chantell Varence, made more than enough money to pay the deposit.

I spent my junior and senior high school years at Lyndon Institute (LI) in Lyndonville, Vermont and graduated June 4, 2017. My name was listed among many in the Hall of Fame having left a legacy behind. This left a memorable impact upon the faculty, staff and students. I broke several school records and was elated to have done so. I will always be remembered for my record-breaking track and soccer talents, especially being a native of The Bahamas.

One of my greatest moments at LI was when I assisted the team in making history during one of our soccer games, and was documented to have broken the 150-year record of defeat. I was able to secure the most goals and assists in that particular game. “My name is Stephanie Mallory Hall. I am an energetic, determined, strong wife and a proud mother of 4. Those who know me describe me as a sociable individual who keeps it real, while inspiring my loved ones to reach their goals. I am passionate about what I believe in and I value my spiritual heritage.

A number of persons have inferred that I have it all – a loving husband, a beautiful family, and the respect of others; however they did not realize that it was only their perception. Something was missing in my life. I was living in the shadows of the bad decisions I made personally, in business, and the way those decisions impacted my life. I started gaining weight which led me to feel uncomfortable. I would talk to those around me about change and pray on a daily basis for a change of my circumstances.

Meet Jennifer Camacho, singer, ukulele player and well-known performer in Hawaii- also known as the “Blonde Hawaiian”. It is with pleasure that we share Jennifer’s story.

In her own words:

“A year ago I was in rough physical health. My lung function was only 35% and my oxygen levels were 60-70% capacity. It was difficult getting around and I was hospitalized for 5 months. When I got out of the hospital I saw a man I knew who had lost a lot of weight and learned he was using a product called Tavala Trim. I told my daughter, Maile, who began researching the product and with excitement we both purchased product and joined as members. Meet Maile…from beautiful Hawaii as she shares her weight loss journey.

“In her own words”:

“I’ve never been a thin person and I struggled with my weight from the young age of 12. Thru my teens, the only way I could lose weight was by practically starving myself and I think we all know how that ended.

Fast forward to the age of 24, I was pregnant with my daughter Megan and by the time I gave birth I was 70 lbs. heavier! I tipped the scale at a whopping 243 lbs! Now just imagine, on a 5’ 2” frame it was not a pretty sight.

I tried just about every product out there and did just about every diet thru the years as my weight continued to yo-yo up and down. All of it was just temporary and I’d end up gaining it all back and more! As I got older, it got much more difficult to lose even one pound without eating like a rabbit and working out like a fanatic! Needless to say, I was stuck in a rut and my body was so confused with all the different things I was doing to try and shed some weight.

Then…just by chance, in July 2017, my mom stumbles across a picture of a friend on Facebook. He had lost so much weight in such a short time, that she barely recognized him. It inspired her so much that she showed me the picture and said “you need to find out what this product is that he’s taking”. I did a little research and found out it was a product called Tavala Trim. Without any hesitation, I signed on as a member because after reading all the testimonies and researching the product, I was excited and I had full confidence that it would work and could help my mom and I and many others. Within the first two weeks I had lost 9 lbs with no effort or change in my diet whatsoever. My energy level soared, there was no afternoon sluggishness and my mental focus was on point. My appetite had decreased greatly and I was no longer craving sweets and had no problem saying no when offered goodies at the office. (this was normally a huge challenge)

My results have inspired my Mom, my fiancé Chad, and my daughter Megan to try Tavala also. Total household weight loss to date is 115 lbs. gone!!! By the beginning of October, I had personally lost 22 lbs. It had been years since I had been able to lose that much weight in such a short time and I have never felt better.

I am currently at a 30 lbs. weight-loss and went from a size 18-20 to a size 14 and soon will be in a 12. I’ve donated bags and bags of my plus size clothing and made a lot of people very happy. I am still purging my closet just about every month as the inches continue to melt away. It has motivated me to eat better, join a gym, exercise regularly, and just really embrace life. I am 60 lbs. away from my goal and with Tavala, I have no doubt that I’ll get there, but how quickly depends on me.

Tavala has also given me the opportunity to help others who are struggling with their weight. I’m confident with Tavala I am able to continue to help people who have just about given up, and instead, give them hope. LOSING WEIGHT IS HARD. I would like to share MY story with you. I can’t stick to any diet, I’ve tried them all. I love carbs and I can’t cut sugar out of my diet. I can’t live on shakes and soups. I eat out often for my full time job. I try and make healthy decisions, but it’s difficult with all the cravings.

So, two years ago, I tried a “natural weight loss supplement” that a friend was selling. Now, I can’t swallow pills, and these only came in capsules. I was so desperate, I opened them up and mixed with peanut butter and honey to mask the awful taste. I was completely convinced that it wasn’t going to work, but I dropped $25 on a 1 week sample. Much to my surprise, I was down 5 lbs the first week.

8 weeks on the supplement I had made significant progress, my clothes were loose on me and I had dropped 18 lbs. I was happy and sharing it with all my friends and family. Then it came- the notice from the company that one of the ingredients was being banned by the FDA. We could no longer get the product.

Since then (Back in 2015)I have been on a mission to find something that worked like that product did (and preferably not in pill form) and I have spent thousands on products, membership fees, and auto ships.
