Two funny commercials. It’s amazing how the right idea and the proper execution can make or break the quality of a commercial. They only have less than a minute to tell their story and sell their product.
Taking situations we all experience and creating a slight slant to them, seems to work best.

Why You are not Making Money Online or in Network Marketing
You want truth in advertising… here it is… Most people do not make money on line or in MLM companies. By the time you pay your affiliate fee, any monthly requirement to purchase product….. you are in a negative cash flow situation…. OK cool, you can write off’a loss on your taxes. BUT that’s not the reason you signed up for a business. You signed up to MAKE money.
Here’s Why you signed up
Ever wonder what the statistics are on how many people succeed in Network Marketing? Taken from an article posted by http://thebalanceyouneed.com here I mean, do a lot of people actually make this thing work? Let’s look at why the Network Marketing industry is exploding and the numbers that explain it.
The Great American Dream is gone. Official U.S. government reports point out that more than 3.5 million jobs have been eliminated in the past 10 years. This includes over 2,000 jobs per day last year alone. More frightening; an estimated 55% of all jobs created in the next 10 years will be near minimum wage. Currently, 90% of all the people in North America earn less than $40,000 a year and today’s two-income family are not living as well as their parents did. As well as what has been just stated, check out these economic facts:
At age 50:
-75% of the population has less than $5,000 in the bank for retirement.
At age 65:
-45% of Americans depend on relatives.
-30% depend on charities.
-23% are still working (most can’t afford to quit and work until they are no longer physically capable).
-Only 2% are self-sustaining.
At the current time:
-It is impossible to support a family of two working full time at minimum wage.
-For the first time in history, the current generation is averaging a lower standard of living then their parents.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics also states:
Out of 100 people that start working at the age of 25, by the age of 65:
-1 is wealthy.
-4 have enough money to retire.
-63 depend on social security or charity.
-29 are deceased.
One of the most disheartening statistics is this:
-95% of people, age 65 and over cannot afford to retire and work until they die.
Why You are not Making Money
So what is the real scoop? You have to be in a company that is using today’s methods…. not the methods of the 1960’s and 1970’s. You know what I mean. Hammering your friends and family, staying up late doing 3 way calls, blah, blah, blah. How is it working? Really, how is it working?
I know the answer, cause I’ve been there…… a couple of times. I thought if I just worked harder or longer…. then I could make it happen.
Hear this…. I have a little secret…. it’s called the internet. You have to use the internet. yesterday’s modalities don’t work now. Facebook 1 billion strong. Nobody had even conceived of FaceBook back when the industry was in the 1960’s, 1970’s and even 1980’s. But the methodology they teach IS the same. There are faster ways to deliver the mail than by Pony Express.
Why You are not Making Money
Throw out the old ways and get into the year 2013… hell just get in to the year 2000 would be a start for most marketers.
You need a system to offer to people. Something anyone can do. That doesn’t take learning how to 3 way, and hammer the phones. You don’t like it, why do you think anyone else will?

Here’s another one. Most MLM’s pay 5-7% of volume! That’s crazy talk! You can’t earn a substantial living on 5-% with the money you have going out to generate the leads and stay ahead of the attrition rate.

It takes no time at all. Creating anything in life requires you to change your thoughts you have about yourself. When you enter in to life from a new position, a new space, your choices change and your outer world must follow.
Change happens in an instant the moment you change “where you come from” OK, what does that mean? You can’t create a new results living life from old paradigms. You have to change the space you operate from, and when you do, your choices change and your results must follow.
Here’s an example. Years ago, I smoked 2 packs of cigarettes per day. I “tryed” to quit but was always unable. I’d be crabby for a couple of days, hate that I “had” to (no one was making me!!) and eventually I gave in, failed and starting smoking again!
Change Happens Instantly
I did stop smoking, but not in the way most people would do it. I had always failed at quitting because I was coming from the space of a “Smoker” who was trying to quit. there is a conflict between being a Smoker and quitting smoking. they can’t co-exist. One or the other must be true. Do you see that?
Here is how to effectively create a change happens instantly. Decide on what you want. Now you can’t say I want to quit smoking, because the focus is still on Smoking. I quit when I decided to be a non-smoker. This was a new space for me. As a smoker quiting I had to think through all of the possibilities as a smoker would about planning my day around not smoking, what would I do after a meal, or if I had a drink… See I was still thinking like a smoker.
Change happens in an instant
I decided to be a non-smoker. Now someone who doesn’t smoke, doesn’t even think about having a smoke upon waking up or a lunch or with a drink. Coming from a position as a Non-smoker I had different choices available. Choices that a smoker trying to quit does NOT have.
If you want to see change happens instantly, you have to step in to another space. In to the space of the result you now want and live from that.
I stopped smoking instantly. I had new choices, a new way of being, a new ground of being to come into the world and play.
Change Happens Instantly
You can apply this analogy to ANYTHING ! Don’t try to lose weight, choose to be your ideal weight and ask yourself at your ideal weight how you would operate in the world. It changes everything and it changes it instantly!
When you enter in to life from a new position, a new space, your choices change and your outer world must follow.

A friend told me about the dating sight, Match.com several years ago….this is back in 2005- and a really new concept to me! Yikes…To post yourself on the internet so that people can actually view your profile, pictures and contact you for a date? Yeah, right!!!! To me it seemed so foreign….like walking down the aisle of a grocery store only this time you are choosing your “man” based on something he wrote about himself or the way he looked…………crazy…………….! Hell no!
I had been married most of my life, and at that time I was going through a divorce and 48 years old. I had moved from Vermont to Arizona…. was working as a personal trainer at a Woman’s gym, going to an alternative school for transformational coaching that was 80%+ attended by women…..
Ok….with statistics like that the likelihood of meeting a man was close to Zero!
My friend wouldn’t give up on the idea that match.com would be GREAT for me. (Incidentally, she was using match.com as well- and I thought perhaps she wanted someone to talk about as we shared this experience, or perhaps someone’s shoulder to cry on….I didn’t know which!)
And then, I figured….why not? How else was I going to meet men????
And so I joined Match.com
I honestly didn’t give it too much thought after making the decision, and actually didn’t hold much faith in the process but I logged on, sign up for 3 months and chose a PROFILE NAME. Are you kidding- at age 48 I was ONLINE looking for a DATE? Funny thing at that age is 20 year olds are looking for their “cougar” and 70 year olds for their trophy wife.
I bounced it off a couple of friends AFTER I had already joined and they thought I couldn’t possibly be serious! Several were worried about my safety as there ARE axe murderers out there and someone somewhere that they had read about HAD gone on a date and never was seen again….so I stopped telling anyone what I was doing!
Wow, Phoenix is a huge area with LOTS of men and women to choose from!!! That was a good thing. Although my free time was somewhat limited, I began to interact with people who looked like a potential ‘fit’….keep in mind I had been out of the dating scene for decades! Needless to say, it had changed!
I won’t get into too many “details” except to say that MY personal experience was positive. Within a day or two of joining, I met 3 really nice men- the first for lunch and the other two for coffee and breakfast. (I’d suggest “coffee and conversation” for all first dates which is easier and quicker than committing to a whole meal with someone that you potentially have nothing in common with and no “spark”! Just saying….
Anyway, date #1 was a man whom I connected with on a deep level and actually dated for 8 months. Date #2, the following day was a man who became a friend and a workout partner, and date #3, well…put it this way- other than being a nice enough guy and also from the east coast of the USA- there was no attraction!
Like I said, MY experience- as limited up until then as I had- was positive…however some of the stories I heard from friends who had gone on Match.com dates, was down-right hilarious or some even frightening!
Fast forward a year from originally joining Match.com
because that is when some magic occurred.
I was single – going on 50 and thinking that 2007 was the year that I was open to meeting a man, and having a long term and meaningful relationship! I had taken time to “date myself” as some people suggested who had also been through a divorce, and had got crystal clear on the type of person I wanted to attract into my life. I believe that once you REALLY and TRULY are open to meeting a particular type of person…that if YOU are in alignment in all those areas yourself- that your paths will cross. (I say if you are in alignment as some of my friends wanted to find a wealthy man with a great fit body and they lived with poverty consciousness and were 40 pounds over-weight! And if they DID meet, I am quite certain it would not last long-term)
Anyway….flashing forward to 2007 I followed my intuition and went BACK on Match.com. Rather than tell my story you can watch our 2013 Valentine’s Day Video
6 years later, Dave and I are STILL together and very much in love! We have committed ourselves on all levels and know without an ounce of doubt that we will be together from “now on”. Would we recommend www.match.com to others? Absolutely!!!!
Would we have any suggestions for anyone looking to meet someone on line? Absolutely….but that is another story.
Some quick advice for anyone looking to use ANY online dating service is to be 100% authentic. Why would you want to be anything BUT honest, truthful on all levels? If you lie about your interests to sound “fun” – or post old pictures where you were 10 years younger and 40 pounds less that is not accurate!
Go ahead and join an online dating service- and Match.com would be a good place to begin….what do you have to lose? Both Dave and I have relatives and friends who have met on Match.com and are thrilled with their “match” and now happily married….
So to answer what people ask us on how we met… is MATCH.COM REAL or a SCAM we tell them our story.

6 years ago, I had just moved to Phoenix AZ and thought it would be good to get out and start making new friends.
I joined a website called match.com and began setting up meetings with a # of women. Now I learned quick that it was going to be real expense if we met for dinner(and I always believed the guy should pay) also if there wasn’t and easy connecting almost immediately, I knew this wasn’t going to work out even as friends, I couldn’t wait to get the hell out.
I further realized that meeting for a drink would not be a good idea either. After 2 or 3 drinks, even I start looking good to others! So I hit upon the idea of Coffee and Conversation. We would meet at a coffee shop…. I chose Starbucks as they were plentiful in the area and most everyone could find them.
It gave both parties an easy out if there was not a connection.
Jan. 6, 2007, I was meeting this lady at a Starbucks in Tempe, AZ. She was a few minutes late that day. She walked in, we recognized each other from our posted pictures, grabbed some coffee and sat down. We sat there for 3 hours, just talking. We moved later to a small outside restaurant and sat outside have some hors d’oeuvres and a glass of wine.
5 hours that evening and we had felt that we knew each other for ever.
Like the line in When Harry Met Sally goes…. when you know you want to spend your life with someone you want it to start right now. We’ve been together almost daily for over 6 years!
This morning as a surprise I (Dave) posted a video on Facebook wishing Joy a Happy Valentine’s Day and spoke of how we met 6 plus years ago. Joy loved it and within 30 minutes had made her own video and spoke about her version of how we met!
Later in the day we decide to both sit in front of the camera, aka “When Harry Met Sally” and allow the world to see both of us talking about the events of the year beginning 2007.

A Valentine Story…. My Version, Her Version and then the Truth!
Tonight after listening to a fabulous call with people achieving a level of success I’ve always sought after. I went to bed. Unable to sleep, I got up, went back to the computer desk and started writing on a pad of paper
What is my why and why is it important that I achieve it? I listed the usual, money, lifestyle, being fulfilled and content, supporting family etc… but something felt cold and distant. In fact I had felt that many times before as i wrote out the list of things that I would have and do with all of the success I would have.
Tonight I wouldn’t have any part of it. These things really don’t motive me. I really don’t give a shit about the car, the house…. I do care about my family and being able to support them if needed.
I began looking at “how” I lived my life. What I did on a consistent basis interacting with myself, life and others.
As a child I would walk the entire campground after we had set up our site. Within 20 minutes I would know where everything was and would come back and report to the family. Why?
Why?
I notice that when I’m exposed to new information, during the act of listening or reading, at that moment I am already formulating how I can show it, or explain it to others. It’s automatic. I’m not trying to do it, I’m just doing it. Why?
When I heard a lady who was 100 lbs. over weight tell me diets don’t work…. I spent 20 minutes explaining how our body metabolizes and how her low food intake diets were actually making her fatter. She was so thankful. I had nothing to gain from spending time with her. But I had to make certain she got it. Why?
It occurred to me that my real purpose is to make certain those around me are safe and taken care of. That they have an understanding of the information at hand to navigate through their life. Why?
Upon looking at myself it occurred to me that I was living out my needs and requirements to navigate through my life. To be safe and not be lost.
My fears are of not understanding something, of not knowing, of being lost. Seeing this run my life for the first time at this depth explains why I do what I do. And for the first time begins to answer “What is my purpose?”
I naturally filter new information and process it instantly so I can immediately explain it to others and they understand. I can understand something clearly enough to teach and explain it to them so they can have a fabulous life. So they can love themselves more. My Purpose is to gather people to me so I can keep them safe.
I believe that we all teach what we need to learn. We live out here only as we see the world. Sharing “from” that is your purpose!
Perhaps like me, the “how” you live your life might explain the “Why” you live your life.
