Where have I been? Only moments ago, while ‘hanging out’ in the Women’s Lounge- a group on Facebook dedicated to inspiring women and prosperity, I just learned of International Women’s Day that is annually held on March 8 to celebrate women’s achievements throughout history and across nations. It is also known as the United Nations (UN) Day for Women’s Rights and International Peace. Living in the United States of America one would think this would be a publicly known holiday, however it must not be….as I was not aware of its meaning or importance, or that the day just came and went without any conscious celebration on my part.
International Women’s Day events are held worldwide on March 8. Various women, including political, community, and business leaders, as well as leading educators, inventors, entrepreneurs, and television personalities, are usually invited to speak at various events on the day. Such events may include seminars, conferences, luncheons, dinners or breakfasts. The messages given at these events often focus on various themes such as innovation, the portrayal of women in the media, or the importance of education and career opportunities.
Many students in schools and other educational settings participate in special lessons, debates or presentations about the importance of women in society, their influence, and issues that affect them. In some countries school children bring gifts to their female teachers and women receive small presents from friends or family members. Many workplaces make a special mention about International Women’s Day through internal newsletters or notices, or by handing out promotional material focusing on the day.

Background of International Woman’s Day
Much progress has been made to protect and promote women’s rights in recent times. However, nowhere in the world can women claim to have all the same rights and opportunities as men, according to the UN. The majority of the world’s 1.3 billion absolute poor are women. On average, women receive between 30 and 40 percent less pay than men earn for the same work. Women also continue to be victims of violence, with rape and domestic violence listed as significant causes of disability and death among women worldwide.
The first International Women’s Day occurred on March 19 in 1911. The inaugural event, which included rallies and organized meetings, was a big success in countries such as Austria, Denmark, Germany and Switzerland. The March 19 date was chosen because it commemorated the day that the Prussian king promised to introduce votes for women in 1848. The promise gave hope for equality but it was a promise that he failed to keep. The International Women’s Day date was moved to March 8 in 1913.
The UN drew global attention to women’s concerns in 1975 by calling for an International Women’s Year. It also convened the first conference on women in Mexico City that year. International Men’s Day is annually held on November 19 each year to improve gender relations and promote unity.

The International Women’s Day logo is in purple and white and features the symbol of Venus, which is also the symbol of being female.
The faces of women of all backgrounds, ages, and nations are also seen in various promotions, such as posters, postcards and information booklets, on International Women’s Day. Various messages and slogans that promote the day are also publicized during this time of the year.

Today is the last day of February, the month I was born. Every year I like to do “something” good for myself- moving myself ahead in life in a healthy and or prosperous way. Two February’s ago when I was about to turn 54 I did P90X. 90 days of committing to a fitness program and nutritional program that is off the charts amazing. I did it, it worked and I was the strongest and leanest I have been in years…..
And then I got sloppy with habits and nutrition and over the past two years put the weight back on…..not a happy time.
Last February I did 55 men’s pushups on my birthday….just to say I could. I actually did 56, JUST in case I mis-counted and it was relatively easy as I had been working up to that day by doing 1000 pushups over a 3 week period. I also vowed in 2012, at age 55 to find something to be passionate with and to step back into owning my own business and not working a job. In July we were introduced to Nerium International and 4 months later I gave notice to my job as manager of a health club.
The Master Cleanse
This February I was floundering about what to do for my birthday goal and was in a rather unsure state. We had begun an internet business with Empower Network which really excited me, was still working with Nerium but when my birthday approached I wasn’t sure what my goal for my 56th year would be. OK, so perhaps that was not the smartest thing to do but I did it and I am proud.

So what does this have to do with the Master Cleanse? Well….I vowed to make my 56th year more financially prosperous than any year in my life….and I am confident with our businesses that this will happen.
Second I looked at my body, my weight and my overall health and decided I wanted- no, actually, needed, to make some healthy changes. Luckily Dave and I live a relatively healthy life and have strong health constitutions. While many people around us – younger and older- get sick or are on lots of medications, we are not and vow not to be…so I knew something needed to change. I MUST lose/drop this 15 pounds of bloat weight that I have put on in the past two years.
Each year I like to do a cleanse, usually the Master Cleanse, 2x year. It helps ground me, gives me time of solitude and quietness as it truly does cleanse both the physical body but also the emotional. If there are any uncleared-out emotions they will manifest during the cleanse and since I have done this several times, I know that my body requires more rest, more quiet time and more warmth. This year, the warmth is not so much an issue since the “menopause” heat has taken over my life….in fact it is a welcome to have coolness disperse throughout my body.
So here I am on day 4 of the Master Cleanse. Morning times are my least favorite time as my morning ritual is to drink a quart of warm “salt water” with 3 tsp. of Celtic sea salt dissolved in it. It is quite unpleasant but necessary to assist the detoxification symptoms be less. Think of the lemon juice, B grade Maple syrup and cayenne pepper as the washing machine cycle of your body…agitating and removing the toxins from your cells. Well the salt flush is like the rinse cycle of your washing machine, removing the toxins so they do not settle in your blood stream causing fatigue, headache or aches and pains.
In the past there were mornings I would skip this process, and that was mainly because I had to rush out to work in the morning and with the salt flush you just never know when your body will want to flush or evacuate the salt water. Best to be close to a bathroom for at least an hour!
So here I am, day 4 feeling quite satisfied with the results thus far. I have dropped 3 pounds in the 3 days and LOTS of bloat and inches. I don’t like to measure myself with the scale or measuring tape….I’d rather not obsess with that because it plays with my mind, but I know by the end of the 10 days my body will be so much cleaner, healthier, less toxic and energized. I know I will begin to crave only the healthiest of foods- which I’ve already begun to crave. I want to live all my years in the healthiest state that I can and in the process of doing so, eliminate the nightly cocktail or wine that had become my escape. It began when I would come home from work at around 8PM and one of the first things I would do was to have a glass of wine or drink….and I honestly did do it to flip the switch from work to relaxation mode….but now that I have been working from home since November, I found I had kept that evening ritual, and my bloat and body was not happy…and it showed.
So onward I go….I will begin squeezing my daily lemons….measuring the maple syrup and cayenne and enjoying my LEMONADE COCKTAILS. The amazing thing is this resonates so much with me….I had actually been craving the Master Cleanse for several weeks prior to doing it. I think intuitively my body knew it was acidic and this was and is the best remedy.

Many people have a belief that a leader is someone who in charge of others. They may be a leader, but likely they are a manager or supervisor. A leader is someone who sets a vision for a group or organization. Then a leader sets himself or herself apart by being the stand for the vision and holds everyone accountable to that standard.
I’ve heard it lonely at the top. In a way it is. Likely you are the only one, or one of few, who take the vision as a personal quest. It’s really what separates a leader from the pack…. It actually defines a leader.
Stand for Leadership
Leadership is simply knowing what you stand for, what your business stands for and what your organization stands for. And being so completely aligned with that stand you are unwilling to have anything be out of alignment with that vision.
Stand for Leadership Training
Before you can train anyone to be a Leader, you have to be a Leader. I’ve seen it happen in many businesses, where a owner is wanting a trainee to Step up to Leadership, without the owner first being a Leader. It doesn’t work that way. If you’re an owner in a brick and mortar business or in Network Marketing business developing a team, YOU must step into the Leadership role IF you want to attract other Leaders! You must. If you do not, you will only attract others who are playing small. Your business isn’t going anywhere? This is the likely reason. Training leaders starts with your process.
Training others is therefore a process of identifying those who want to rise up and lead. Initially many will fall back once they realize that they must be so completely immersed in the vision. Many of these individuals become managers of people. And you need them too.
The few that are willing to see living the vision, usually have no sense of the complete devotion it will take to achieve this level of oneness with the vision. The distance between where you are and being a true leader is made up of personal development. Seeing who you are now, looking at the parts that hold you back, keep you small and learning the skills and making decisions to go beyond the small, individual self.
Stand for Leadership
Deciding to be a leader, and yes it’s a decision, not a birth right. I’ve never seen where a leader was born today at the local hospital. I have seen where a leader has died. So somewhere between birth and death, anyone has the choice to learn the skills and decisions to be a leader.
