Amazon. Did you know Amazon is a search engine and distribution company?
There are more searches for products on Amazon than on Google. When I saw that, it blew my mind.
Or this, over 63% of Amazon customers are Prime Members! Why? They can order almost any product and have it on their doorstep in 2 days. In large metropolitan areas they can have it a matter of hours from placing their order.
Amazon figured this out and built a search engine and created a distribution process. Amazon was created in 1997 with a vision that matched what the end consumer wanted. Choice, convenience, and delivery options that saved money and time. It took them 14 years, until 2011 to turn a profit.
Then I learned that it’s thousands of vendors who sell products on Amazon. Both large companies and small 1 person companies. Amazon earns a small portion of each sale. (Look at nearly any product on Amazon and you will see it’s “Sold by” [insert name here] and shipped by Amazon.
When we came across this information I’m going to share, it changed my perception forever on the new “shared economy” is working. Think Uber, AirBnB and Amazon.
