train… In spite of my healthy habits and commitment to doing MY part, the weight (especially belly fat) crept on me like a thief in the night. I honestly started avoiding mirrors and hiding behind my grandkids whenever photos were being taken…hoping the extra baggy clothes might camouflage my growing “Men-o-pot” belly. This sad spiral continued with an extra couple pounds creeping on every year for ten years before I found the solution that turned my frown upside down! I can’t even count the number of pills, potions, powders, and extreme crash diets that I gave 100% effort with literally not an inch budging from my middle!
Yes, my fit, lean and healthy body seemed to just LOVE the additional fat padding that accumulated in places I had never had fat before- namely my back and my belly, but also butt and boobs… yes, as I said before, the 4 B’s. I’ve been talking to several friends lately who are just starting or are THICK IN THE MIDDLE of menopause. Fortunately for me, I cruised through ‘the change’ with relative ease…. with the most annoying side effect being HOT FLASHES. I was always someone who was COLD until menopause… it is quite humorous looking back at most holidays, even in the winter, where everyone is bundled in sweaters etc. and I am in a tank top. Very strange but true.
Yup, I began calling my widening belly my Men-0-Pot!!! At first I thought it was something that would PASS, but 10 years in the making, I had gained 2 pounds a year and had a whopping 20 pounds of EXCESS fat on my body…. Yup, mom was right when she told me not to get too used to my tiny waist.
