Day 8 stats Down another 1.2 lbs. this morning for a total weight loss of 10 lbs in 8 full days on Ketopia. Still no hunger or cravings!

Personal Notes

My 1st 2 days on Ketopia, I was able to see a slight rise in ketones on the KetoStix. It only showed for a few hours and by the afternoon It didn’t show additional excess ketones. BTW, the KetoStix don’t measure if your body is in Ketosis, they measure the excess ketones being excreted thru the urine. Since you are testing the level of ketones leaving your body, the excess ones, you might still be in a state of ketosis with ketones still in your body.

 

blood glucoseThe most accurate way to test to ketones IN the body is with a blood glucose monitor. This will show what is IN not what is excess coming OUT.

Not initially understanding this I was a little concerned that I was not burning fats. The drop in weight and fat proved me wrong.

By Day 5 I tested myself with the KetoStix 5-6 times and saw that I had excess ketones well into the evening hours and by the morning of Day 7 before I had my KetonX drink I was already measuring a high level of ketones.

The message is don’t get discouraged by your levels of excess ketones in the first few days. Every body is different and will find it’s own reset point. Some days I lost more weight, other days more inches, some days, both! For me sometimes its hard not to micro manage, you know, watching everything to closely. Like sailing a boat or flying an airplane, just hold your course……. and stay with the program, it works!

On Days 3 & 4 I showed no weight loss even though I was following the program. I noticed by the end of day 4 I felt bloated, my stomach appeared to me to be distended, you know bulging out. I realized I hadn’t had a normal bowel movement in 2 days. I felt almost toxic. So, I made a few slight shifts:

1. Dropped cheese sticks for snacks. I was having 3 a day. My body tends to gets bound up on too much cheese.

2. Increased Fat intake from avocados and olives

3. Changed any snacks to lettuce wrap with avocados & olives

4. Changed my FIXX shake to mixing with water only and NOT using unsweetened Almond Milk. See I was caught in an old paradigm of I needed more calories and thought the Almond Milk would be a better choice. Now mixing with water only.

5. Bumped up my water intake to 1/2 oz per body weight, not counting the 12 oz I had with KetonX and FIXXWrap

By Day 5 I started dropping weight and fat again and through Day 8 it hasn’t stopped! And I’ve added back pieces of Feta and Blue Cheese to my wraps!

Man, are my clothes hanging different, I don’t feel my belly when I lean over to tie my shoes or pick up a tennis ball.

I’m gonna miss they belly …… NOT ! and if you find it, don’t send it back!

Dave Day 7 on Ketopia

Lost almost 2 more lbs. on Day 7

Started at 247.5 lbs. and now at 238.8 lbs. Weight loss in 1 week of nearly 9 lbs!!

Body fat loss of 5.4 lbs. of my weight loss was in Fat. Well over half of my weight loss was fat loss! Perfect !

How do you measure Fat Loss?

I had someone ask, “How do you measure your Fat Loss?” Here’s how: There are a few ways to measure you how much fat you are carrying.

1. Find a personal trainer and ask them to use their calipers to calculate your fat.

2. You can purchase a scale that measures your body fat both in percentage of body weight and in lbs. Scale

3. Use this link to determine (a little less accurate, but for your purposes, it works) http://www.freedieting.com/tools/body_fat_calculator.htm This link will show you both percentage of body weight and in lbs. too.

Measure your fat on day 1 then on Day 7 or whatever day you are measuring and subtract the 2nd number from the first.

 

A short Soap Box Rant (cause it’s my blog!)

Most of us, use the weight we see on the scale to determine how successful or how unsuccessful we are in our health as it relates to weight loss. I’d like you to consider that its NOT about weight loss and the scale isn’t or shouldn’t be your top priority!

I’m willing to bet your actual weight isn’t even in the top 3 concerns for you. When we’ve asked hundreds of people who took part in our weight loss programs years back, What were the top 3 results you are looking for in the program?, the number on the bathroom scale was rarely in the top 3 !

First most people wanted to FEEL better !

2nd they wanted to LOOK better

3rd they wanted their clothes to FIT better

Wanted to look sexier and ultimately FEEL Sexier

The number on the scale usually came in the top 5, but rarely did the number on the scale become the main reason they were looking to be healthier.

What if we changed the discussion from Weight Loss to more appropriately, Fat Loss? Fat or % of fat, is a much better indicator of health than just weight! I’ve often said that I don’t care if I weigh 300 lbs., if I’m lean !

Ok, one last soap box….. someone has to say it….

To all the ladies out there, you know who you are, who always say, “Guys lose weight faster, Its not fair.” Well, we don’t do it on purpose! Yes, we do sometimes smile, inwardly of course, that we’re dropping weight faster, but we’re usually 20 to 100 lbs heavier than you ladies…. Of course our “weight loss” looks higher on the scale! If you’re into comparing, compare % of weight loss from where you started. At our weight loss programs a few years ago, we tracked % of weight loss based upon starting weights and usually a lady won that category! (Did I mention, its not about the number on the scale?)

Lastly, men’s and women’s bodies are different! Have you noticed? And it’s those differences that are so …… shall we say, intriguing ! But that’s a subject for another time, and perhaps beyond the scope of this “PG” rated blog.

As I began to prepare for my KETOPIA experience two weeks ago I began to take a look at my current diet. It wasn’t horrible, but it wasn’t great either. Although I eat quite healthy, it was very high in carbohydrates, while low in protein and fats…and along with the couple of cocktails or glasses of wine in the evening – it didn’t add up to a program that was conducive for abundant energy or weight loss. Dave’s Day 5 on Ketopia

Ketopia, You’ll Know When You’re There

That line makes sense now. By late morning on the 3rd day, I started feeling so energized and alive. Hard to completely put my finger on it, but it is palpable. Now I can say it…….You will know when you’re there!

It’s easy, no craving and I feel satisfied all day!

Day 5 I’ve now lost the grand total of 6 lbs. lost, fat down 3.6 lbs and Body Fat off 1% !! Perhaps more important, I feel so much better and smaller….. Clothes are hanging better, belly is not protruding!

On day 3 and 4, I did notice my digestive system was feeling bound up, felt bloated, almost toxic….. FIXX chocolate shakeEven though I thought I had been consuming enough water, perhaps I hadn’t been. So I upped my water (not just counting the KetonX & FIXX shake as part of it) and consumed 1/2 oz, per lbs of body weight.

Additionally I stopped using unsweetened Almond milk in my FIXX shake and went back to pure water. Additionally even though cheese and cheese sticks are allowed, I dropped cheese too… I think that may have contributed to binding me up. I replaced the cheese snacks with 1/4 avocado, a few black olives wrapped in a large romaine lettuce leaf. Yummy!

Last evening, during our team calls, my digestive system started kicking back in! ( My apologies, if I cut the calls short! lol )

I have been stead fast in my commitment to not having any alcohol. Not easy, especially over the weekend…. I’m not sure how to have a cigar without a good scotch. I guess I still haven’t figured that out. No cigars either!

Dave’s Ketopia Journey Day 2

Day 2 on Ketopia

Slept soundly, other than a couple of bathroom breaks….. I’ve upped my water in the past to 1/2 oz per body weight and remember it took a couple of days for my body to get used to it and stop having to use the bathroom so often. I expect today to match my number of bathroom trips as I did yesterday. Thinking of mounting my iPad on the wall behind the toilet, so I can get caught up on my reading. I believe I could finish a couple of books this week.

DOWN 5 lbs in the first 48 hours!

Look slimmer….. although I didn’t really seem to notice improvement in my tennis game this morning. I’m thinking because I weigh less, I’m maybe a 1/2 step faster and have to compensate for the change in aerodynamics…….. Oh, never mind….

Enjoyed the KetonX drink even more this morning. Just mixed a packet of KetonX with cold water and sipped it for 45 minutes while I fixed a problem with this website….. I touched something I shouldn’t have yesterday in the css files….. But I digress…

The most surprising thing for me has been the lack of cravings. That is awesome. Not to feel like I’m missing something. I believe staying on this Ketopia 10 Day Reset will be easier than anything I’ve ever done in the past.

indexHeard a comment yesterday about being careful not to drink too much water as you can deplete your sodium and potassium in the body. Here’s what I found… The KetonX drink has 850 mg of Sodium (which is 35% of RDA=Recommended Daily Allowance) and 1120 mg of Potassium (32% of RDA) FIXX has Sodium 190 mg (8% of RDA) and 800 mg of Potassim (22% of RDA) And I add a pinch of salts with dinner….. I don’t see this as an issue. Keep your water intake to 1/2 oz per lb of body weight. I keep refilling a 20 oz water bottle and drink 6 of those daily.

Dough Bites Taste Fabulous Just Sayin’

One of the results I am waiting for is the feeling of energy that others have talked about. It seems to show up between Day 2 and Day 4. I have notice that by just being off grains, my breathing is better and I didn’t feel congested in the early afternoon after my typical lunches.

7 pm – Dinner time, but I’m not hungry… WHAT ?

Crazy. I’m always hungry! Today I had KetonX Drink, 1 Dough Bite, FIXX shake, 2 String Cheese….. We decided we might want to make dinner…. I didn’t see the point. I eat cause I’m hungry, not because of the time of day…..

Joy’s Journey with KETOPIA: the day before!

Today I woke up and decided that TOMORROW I’ll start KETOPIA.
We have had ONE 10-Day Reset box for a week- sitting on our counter top….hesitant to start it as we did not know when our large order of Ketopia would arrive- WE DID NOT WANT TO START AND THEN RUN OUT!

However, today I woke up and decided I will begin KETOPIA TOMORROW….no matter what!!!! Enough waiting….

So this morning has been a bitter-sweet morning of weighing myself- taking measurements and pictures. I literally cried. But since I know there is a solution….I am now excited.

SCALE OMG

I am not a fan of the SCALES so when I stepped on them today it was a shocker!!!! In some ways a motivator- but mainly a shocker. I weigh more than when I was pregnant with my kids, 30+ years ago.

The next thing I did was have Dave measure me. It’s so much easier to have someone measure you- plus you have the consistency of placement of the measuring tape….. knowing me I would have pulled the tape more snug to not be so shocked by the numbers! yikes….no turning back now- I haven’t seen THOSE numbers since the day before we did P90X 4 years ago at age 54.

From there is was assessing my BMI and % of Body Fat…what fun! let’s just say my pre-menopause body fat of average 15% was much higher. No worries though- I have 100% confidence that I will notice a HUGE difference in the next 10 Days!!!!

The above was painless in comparison to the PHOTOS! OMG…. close up- and letting my belly relax- not a beautiful site. I had Dave take front, side, back shots- one set in shorts (which I never wear) and the other in a pair of jeans that I’d love to wear comfortably. LUCKILY the jeans were the stretchy kind as I could zip them up- but it’s not pretty….

I did promise my friends and team (with FGXpress) that I would be brave and post the before and after pictures, 10 days, 20 days and 30 days and I will- but I have to say I was tempted to wear a beach hat and sunglasses today so NO ONE would recognize me. Such vanity!!!!

What excites me the most is that KETOPIA addresses body FAT. My tears have dried…..I am facing the next 10 Days with full on excitement. I know MY results will inspire others and that is what I love to do….So stay tuned.

REST IN PEACE FAT…..I’m looking at my KETOPIA JOURNEY as a life style change. It is NOT a diet…it is a program. I know it will shift my “set point” which is why FGXpress calls it a 10-Day Reset Program.

Tonight…yes I’ll have a couple of glasses of wine with my dinner…and then it is BY THE BOOK for “moi”.

I know I am not the only one counting down until our KETOPIA product arrives. Our phones and emails are ‘blowing up’ with people full of excitement, since the release of Ketopia, from FGX (FGXpress) . So here I am – making my list of HOW TO PREPARE for a successful KETOPIA EXPERIENCE. Perhaps it will resonate with others or even help YOU prepare…..

My Check List: check list

  1. Prepare with a positive mind-set. I am CHOOSING to do this program knowing 100 % that it will work, I will reach my goals and I will have a fantastic ‘success story’. My results will inspire others! I will RESET MY METABOLISM, shift cravings and increase my ENERGY! I already LOVE my results!
  2. Tomorrow morning I will calibrate the bathroom scales so the day I begin the KETOPIA I will write down my current weight….
  3. I will measure myself – from head to toe. One never knows where the ‘fat’ may come from. When I was a Lose Weightpersonal trainer, as silly as it sounds, we would even measure the neck….as people really DO lose inches in the neck! It is very motivating to see inches MELT off the body when you lose toxins, eat properly and are in a healthy Ketosis.
  4. How much weight do I hope to lose? I’ll take the numbers of pounds I wish to LOSE FOREVER…. and put that number in a jar Pounds Lost MARBLESlabeled POUNDS TO LOSE- with marbles representing pounds. Then I’ll take a second JAR and label it POUNDS LOST. When I lose a pound I’ll transfer that marble to the new jar. =success.
  5. Ahhhhhh, my favorite. TESTER CLOTHES. Surely we ALL have clothes that we love but they are too tight to wear….and are unwilling to get rid of. For many women it is our favorite pair of jeans. I will pull out my jeans – try them on and take a picture. I may not want to take a picture, but I will. I don’t plan to SHARE it until I have a SWEET AFTER PICTURE when I have reached my goal weight and size….
  6. I will find a favorite picture of myself…..I have a couple of pictures that truly do inspire me at a deep level as they EXUDE energy,tight jeans SEXY, CONFIDENCE and HEALTH….and I will post these in a place in our home so I get a sweet reminder daily that this is not only a FUN, DELICIOUS way to reach my goal- but also WORTH IT! (for me, near my computer and in the bathroom mirror!)
